During flood response efforts in Kerr Co., one young volunteer has left a lasting impact. Tim Marvin has shown up every day—working long hours—to help DPS Troopers with traffic control in Kerrville.

Sgt. Darren Thomas recently presented Tim with DPS’ Meritorious Service Award in recognition of his tremendous commitment.

Tim’s dedication reminds us that service isn’t about a badge or a title—it’s about showing up for your community when it matters most.

So proud of our team and grateful they have assisted our neighbors so heroically.

Comal County residents have some of the biggest hearts in Texas—and we know many of you want to help or donate to those affected by the devastating floods across Central Texas. 💙
But please, be cautious.
We know there are many volunteer groups doing meaningful, legitimate work, but not every “search and rescue” team is who they claim to be, and scam donation pages are circulating.

📺 A recent San Antonio news report featured a “volunteer group” operating in our area. After doing our own research, we were unable to verify this group with any officials involved in the official Incident Command structure. No one connected to the unified response knew who they were or what their mission is.

Here is what we CAN CONFIRM:
🔹There is one official Incident Command Structure managing flood response across the Guadalupe River basin—from Kerr County down to Canyon Lake.
🔹That command is based in Kerrville, led by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM).
🔹 In Comal County, the only authorized Search & Rescue team is Texas Task Force 1 (TTF-1).
TTF-1 is actively working only on the Upper Guadalupe River—from Canyon Lake to the Comal/Kendall County line.
🔹 There are no authorized search and rescue operations on Canyon Lake at this time.

👉The bottom line is this - If someone claims to be part of a search team or asks for donations, ask questions, verify credentials, and report suspicious activity to law enforcement.
We’re really proud of this community’s compassion—but let’s make sure it's paired with caution.
