Below is a link to an article I wrote about the Iran War. I am a pro-life libertarian who believes life should be affirmed and defended at all stages from conception to natural death, and this seamless ethic of life has defense and foreign policy implications. Pacifism, by encouraging aggression and consequently the loss of life, is neither pro-life nor historically realistic. Wars of necessity, in response to enemy aggression on American soil, undertaken with overwhelming force and rapidity to minimize the loss of life and property and with a clear exit strategy, are consistent with a pro-life libertarian ethic. The attached article critiques the Iran War from a MacArthurian strategic perspective and argues that it was a war of choice, incompetently managed, that violated basic center of gravity principles essential to achieve strategic victory. Such a war also necessarily violates Augustinian Just War tenets and the pro-life libertarian ethic.
