Fourth grade students recently enjoyed an exciting educational field trip to the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts where they experienced the incredible TREX 3D movie in the IMAX Theater. Students relaxed with popcorn and water while learning about the fascinating world of dinosaurs through the larger-than-life 3D adventure. The trip continued with a walk past the beautiful Pennsylvania State Capitol on the way to The State Museum of Pennsylvania.
While exploring the museum, students were especially impressed by the large dioramas and historical displays, including a unique exhibit featuring a lock of George Washington’s hair. Students also participated in a fun scavenger hunt that helped them discover interesting facts about the history, geography, and culture of Pennsylvania. Before heading home, many students enjoyed browsing and shopping for souvenirs in the State Museum Gift Shop, making the day both educational and memorable.

Fourth grade students proudly showcased their creativity and interests during the annual Fourth Grade Student Hobby Show. A wide variety of hobbies were displayed, including video games, painting, crafts, poster making, collections of cards and toys, sports memorabilia, and many other unique interests. Students enjoyed sharing the hobbies that make them special while learning more about their classmates’ talents and passions.
All of the second and third grade classes attended the event so they could get a preview of what they will have the opportunity to participate in when they reach fourth grade. Fourth grade students also had the chance to share their hobby trifolds, written reports, and special hobby items with all of their fourth grade peers. It was wonderful to welcome our District Superintendent, Dr. Messinger, and Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Reist, who spent time visiting the displays and talking with students about their projects. The Hobby Show was a fun and meaningful celebration of creativity, learning, and individuality.

Last week First grade had a sweet time learning about the states of matter!🔬

Using root beer floats, students explored solids, liquids, and gases in a hands-on science experiment. The ice cream represented a solid, the root beer a liquid, and all those fizzy bubbles showed us gas in action!🍨🥤🫧

Today, the fourth grade students at Northern Lebanon Elementary School enjoyed an exciting and educational Parent/Grandparent/Special Friend Hobby Show experience! Guest presenters volunteered their time to share personal hobbies and interests with students, giving the students an opportunity to explore new activities and learn about the skills, dedication, and creativity involved in each hobby. Students rotated through a variety of engaging presentations and enthusiastically participated in them throughout the day.
This year’s Parent/Grandparent/Special Friend Hobby Show featured a wide range of interests. Mr. Thylan McCurdy shared his passion for Ford Mustangs and golf, teaching students about modified car engines, and the sport of golf. Mr. Tom Poltersdorf energized students with an interactive drumming session that introduced rhythm and percussion techniques. Mr. Rick Wengert demonstrated the art of painting deer antlers, while Mr. Shawn Sanders explained the patience and craftsmanship involved in model car building. Students also learned about the exciting hobby of racing slingshots from Mr. and Mrs. Dinatale. Mrs. Michelle Fisher shared her knowledge and love of horses, teaching students about horse care and riding.
The fourth grade’s Parent/Grandparent/Special Friend Hobby Show was a wonderful opportunity for students to discover new hobbies, ask questions, and connect with members of the Northern Lebanon community. With summer vacation just around the corner, many students are now leaving with exciting new ideas for hobbies and activities they may want to explore during the summer months!
On Tuesday, June 2nd, the fourth graders will host their own hobby show for the second and third graders of Northern Lebanon Elementary School!
