🌟 We’re making an IMPACT beyond Stafford! 🌟

We’re thrilled to celebrate Mari Waite, Bethany Ventura, and Megan Waite, who are representing Stafford Schools as members of the inaugural I’m Determined Educator Leader Cohort! 💙

And they’re already getting to work! 🙌

Our team recently attended the cohort’s first leadership meeting at the I’m Determined Center at James Madison University (JMU), joining educator leaders from across Virginia who are passionate about empowering students with disabilities to take charge of their futures.

For more than 20 years, I’m Determined has helped educators across Virginia strengthen self-determination, student voice, and leadership. Now, this incredible group of educator leaders is coming together to take that work even further—creating resources, tackling challenges, sharing ideas, and shaping what’s next. 🚀

The I’m Determined project, a state directed project funded by the Virginia Department of Education, focuses on providing direct instruction, models, and opportunities to practice skills associated with self-determined behavior.

🚶‍♀️⚡ Making Strides Together! ⚡🚶‍♂️

The Parent Teacher Resource Center was proud to participate in Electric Stride, a wonderful community event hosted by Healthy Generations! 💙

We enjoyed a beautiful 3-mile walk through historic downtown Fredericksburg, taking in the sights, connecting with our community, and celebrating the importance of health, wellness, and togetherness. 🌿🏘️

Events like Electric Stride remind us that when we come together, we can take meaningful steps toward a healthier, stronger community. We’re grateful to Healthy Generations for bringing everyone together for such a positive and inspiring day!

The Parent Teacher Resource Center was excited to attend the Statewide Connect for Success Symposium last week!
One of our favorite sessions focused on what it means to be “Superheroes in Our Community”—and how we can make a meaningful difference by supporting our staff, students, and families through creative and engaging events.
From building connections and strengthening partnerships to creating opportunities for families to feel welcomed, valued, and involved, we were reminded that everyone has the power to be a superhero! We’re excited to take what we learned and turn those ideas into action right here in our community. Together, we can create stronger connections, celebrate our families, support our educators, and help every student thrive! 🌟
Because superheroes don’t always wear capes… sometimes they show up, connect, listen, and make a difference.

“Collaboration That Transforms Outcomes”

PEATC, in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), invites you to the 2026 Virtual Family Engagement Summit: “Collaboration That Transforms Outcomes.” This FREE virtual event brings together parents, caregivers, educators, and community partners who share a common goal – helping students with disabilities succeed in school and in life.

Participants will:
-Hear from inspiring speakers sharing practical tips, real-life experiences, and fresh ideas
-Learn strategies for building stronger partnerships between families, schools, and communities
-Explore resources and supports available to students with disabilities and their families
-Engage in meaningful conversations
-Leave with tools, ideas, and actionable takeaways
-Together, we can build stronger relationships, improve communication, and create better outcomes for schildren and youth with disabilities.
