Parenting can be challenging sometimes and knowing where and how to access help is not always clear. As part of the Children’s Challenging Behaviors Workshop, over the course of three evenings, parents will learn when and how to seek help for their child's mental health condition or challenges, work to develop parenting strategies, learn the ins and outs of special education and other educational supports, and discover community resources available to families and youth. With this class, you’ll find out that you are not alone!

**** Exciting Opportunities & Updates Plus Our Annual Report! ****
Don’t Miss Your Chance to Apply to EmpowHer Camp!
Applications close April 1, 2022!

EmpowHer Camp is an opportunity for teenage girls with disabilities between the ages of 13 and 18 to participate in a year long mentorship experience. It starts with a week of adventurous camping in the Adirondacks where campers explore nature, make friends, and laugh around the campfire. Campers also connect with mentors who will help them set and achieve goals for the year. After the camping trip, participants go home and work on a yearlong project with the help of their mentor. In the summer of 2023, participants reunite in Washington, D.C. where they present their projects, spend time with friends and mentors, meet with Congress, practice job skills, explore our nation’s capital, and more.
We’re looking for awesome young women with disabilities to join our next class of EmpowHer Camp which starts this summer!
There is no cost for girls who are selected to participate and we assist with the cost of travel for all participants!

Girls with disabilities from across the nation are encouraged to apply by April 1st!

Mentor Match:
Maddie & Kelly

Meet Maddie and Kelly! When Maddie met Kelly during the Adirondacks Trip for EmpowHer Camp, it was love at first bite! Kelly is the Executive Director of Kelly’s Kitchen, a nonprofit focused on food justice and the Disability Community. Kelly joined us at EmpowHer Camp to teach cooking skills to our campers and Maddie jumped right into the cooking lessons. Every morning Maddie woke up early to join Kelly in the “kitchen” to light the campfire and get breakfast going before everyone else even rolled out of bed. Not only did Maddie and Kelly talk about meal preparation and learning new cooking techniques, but they also discussed how food justice issues intersect with the Disability Community. When it came time to select a mentor, Maddie quickly named Kelly as her first choice and chose to focus on food justice for her community project. Since then, with Kelly’s help, Maddie has been researching a ton and she created this incredible informational video about food insecurity in the Disability Community.
