Rappahannock United Way is seeking a full-time Corporate Relationship Manager to join the Resource Development (RD) Department. This individual is responsible for revenue-generating activities in our workplace and local government campaigns on behalf of the organization. This position has three major responsibilities: create and implement Resource Development strategies that recruit, retain, and grow corporate and government workplace campaign’s giving donor base, build and grow relationships and partnerships, create and implement new and innovative revenue growth strategies.

Rappahannock United Way is excited to announce our new 2021-2022 Board Members!

Today’s Board Member Spotlight is on Jack Rowley!

Jack is a returning Board Member and serves as the Heritage Circle Co-Chair this year. Jack completed his BS in Business Management from the University of Baltimore in 1965, and his JD in Law from the University of Baltimore in 1970. Jack worked at the International Paper Company for the first half of his career, and Fort Howard/Fort James Corporation (now Georgia Pacific Corporation) for the second half. Throughout his career, his responsibilities included: running an organization with $3 billion in sales, 10 paper mills, and 12,000 associates; President of Jack Rowley, Inc., a consulting firm focusing on operations improvements. His client list includes Interstate Paper Corporation, Cellu Tissue Corporation, Global American Tissue, Potlatch Corporation, Marcal Paper Mills, Inc., Bognar Enterprises, M&M Auto Parts, Inc.

Jack has held various community service positions including Director, Rappahannock United Way; Past President, Fredericksburg Host Lions Club, Fredericksburg, VA; Stafford County Economic Development Authority; Past Director Rappahannock Area Community Services Board; President Germanna Community College Foundation Real Estate Board; College Board of Directors for Germanna Community College; Vice Chair Mary Washington Healthcare Board of Trustees.

Jack and his wife Pat live in Stafford County. They have four grown children and six grandchildren.

Rappahannock United Way is excited to announce our new 2021-2022 Board Members!

Today’s Board Member Spotlight is on Dr. Tiffany Ray!

Dr. Ray is a native of Hampton, Virginia, currently serves as the Vice President of Student Services and Equity Advancement and Chief Diversity Officer at Germanna Community College. During her time at Germanna, the College has increased student enrollment and retention. She developed the Germanna Cares Program to meet students' basic needs. Previously, she was the Interim Dean of Enrollment Management at Thomas Nelson Community College. Prior to Thomas Nelson Community College, she had tenures at Old Dominion University, The College of William and Mary, and Virginia Tech. Dr. Ray is a graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where she majored in Business Administration. She holds a master’s degree in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Higher Education also from Old Dominion University.

Dr. Ray serves on the Old Dominion University Strome College of Business Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, the University of Mary Washington Center for Community Engagement Community Advisory Committee, and the DEI Advisory Council for the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region. She also volunteers with the Community Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy Program. She was recently selected by Old Dominion University’s Alumni Association as part of their inaugural “40 under 40” class.

Nonprofit Capacity Building

RUW strives to be a center for collaboration and networking among areas service providers, hosting monthly information share meetings about various topics. We also host nonprofit trainings and workshops to strengthen the health and human service providers in our area.


Volunteer Center

We are the Volunteer Center for the Fredericksburg area and work throughout the year to match volunteers in our community with both long-term and one time volunteer projects and activities.


Community Investment

RUW invests dollars raised through the Annual, Local Government, and Combined Federal Campaigns in local programs impacting Education, Income, and Health. These programs have been reviewed by community volunteers who ensure that the programs are making lasting changes and improving lives.


Financial Stability

We help hard-working, low-to moderate income individuals and families receive the tax refunds they deserve for free. RUW also organizes Financial Freedom events, facilitating workshops by trained professionals on credit counseling, money management, and more.


Advocacy
----------------------------------------------------------------------
RUW advocates on behalf of 2-1-1 Virginia, a 24-hour statewide helpline that directs individuals to the services they need in their locality. We share FamilyWize discount prescription cards to ensure individuals get the prescriptions they need to stay healthy at a lower price. RUW advocates on behalf of early childhood education as well.
