**UPDATE: All trails are open.

We are getting some rain up here at ERock so we are closing down our elevated trails (Summit, Echo Canyon & Turkey Pass) due to them now being a slipping hazard. We will reassess in the morning and will upate this post when trails reopen. Just a reminder that the Loop and Interpretive Loop trails never close regardless of the weather. Have a great evening! 🙂

This also, unfortunately, happens fairly regularly here at Enchanted Rock.

🥵Heat exhaustion is a very real thing and we are constantly sharing with our visitors the importance of drinking plenty of water and not pushing yourself too far. We wanted to take the opportunity to remind everyone of this and to please leave your pets at home until days start to cool off.

Our park store will be closed for our annual inventory from 17-19 August 2026. The park itself will have normal hours of 6:30am-10pm. Because HQ will be closed, you will need to make online reservations ahead of time at: texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com, or use our self-pay station just outside the front door of HQ. If you are using that, you will need to bring cash with you. It is $8 per person to enter the park, 12 years and younger are free. Thank you for your understanding! 🙂

🚧Staying Safe on the Trail: The Hidden Dangers of Heat🚧

As temperatures soar, hitting the trails requires more than just water and a sense of adventure. Extreme heat introduces serious, life-threatening risks that every hiker needs to respect!

Essential Safety Practices
🌅 Start Early: Begin your hike at dawn to beat the peak heat of the afternoon.
🚰Pack Extra Water & Electrolytes: Bring significantly more water than you think you need and include electrolyte replacements.
⛔Know Your Limits: Turn back at the first sign of dizziness, heavy fatigue, or confusion. No summit is worth your life.
🌡Check the Forecast: Monitor weather warnings and trail conditions before you leave and let someone know your exact route and expected return time.
🐕Leave your pets at home until this Fall!

Remember: Enchanted Rock will always be there tomorrow. Prioritize your safety and know when to call it a day. 🏁
