Today is Overdose Awareness Day, which is an important reminder that overdose remains the leading cause of unnatural death in Virginia. However, with the right tools and trainings, we can work to prevent those overdose deaths. Anyone can carry naloxone, give it to someone experiencing an overdose, and potentially save a life; get tools and training now!
The Rappahannock Area Community Services Board is offering training on how to handle an overdose situation and how to administer naloxone. Each attendee receives a free kit, which includes all the supplies needed to administer the naloxone: www.signupgenius.com/go/RACSB-REVIVE2026 #/
Save1lifefxbg offers a map to find both over-the-counter and free naloxone in the area: www.save1lifefxbg.org/educate-advocate
Overdose is preventable. Together, using proven strategies - including naloxone, timely access to care, medications for opioid use disorder, education, and recovery supports - we can work together to save lives.
