Good afternoon everyone. Please go vote today and let your voices be heard.
Happy Halloween!! Please watch out for the kiddos who will be trick or treating this afternoon and tonight. Here are some safety tips for our trick or treaters.
HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS
Walk Safely
Cross the street at corners, using crosswalks. Look left, right and left again when crossing and keep looking as you cross.
Put electronic devices down, keep heads up and walk, don’t run, across the street.
Teach children to make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them.
Always walk on sidewalks or paths. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as far to
the left as possible. Children should walk on direct routes with the fewest street crossings.
Watch for cars that are turning or backing up. Teach children to never dart out into the street or cross between parked cars.
Join kids under age 12 for trick-or-treating. If kids are mature enough to be out without supervision, tell them to stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups.
Costumes for a Safe Halloween
Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.
Choose face paint and makeup whenever possible instead of masks, which can obstruct a child’s vision.
Have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.
When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.
Drive Extra Safely on Halloween
Slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways.
Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians and on curbs.
Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully.
Get rid of any distractions - like your phone - in your car so you can concentrate on the road and your surroundings.
Turn your headlights on earlier in the day to spot children from greater distances.
Popular trick-or-treating hours are 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Be especially alert for kids during those hours.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!!
This week is designated as Red Ribbon week at many area schools across the nation. It is of the upmost importance that we educate or children about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, to***co and other harmful substances.
Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, to***co, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. It began as a tribute to fallen DEA special agent Enrique Camerena in 1985. Source-https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Ribbon_Week.

Addressing the Issues:
This is just a fraction of the problems that must be addressed in Madison County. In future discussions, I encourage the public to contact me via Facebook or my cell 573-944-1199 to discuss problem areas and changes they would like to see in Madison County. We are working on the web page for future launch and will be conducting live QAs in the near future. Thank you for your support! God Bless Madison County 🇺🇸
Drugs/Narcotics
As your sheriff, I affirm that I will do everything in my power to battle against the Narcotics pandemic in Madison County.
IF ELECTED AS YOUR SHERIFF I WILL WAGE WAR ON THE NARCOTICS AND DRUG USE IN MADISON COUNTY.
Narcotics such as methamphetamine, opiates and other illegal substances currently plague our community. Our families deserve to be safe. Our property deserves to be safe. Our community deserves to be safe. I will ensure the safety of Madison County by tackling the the narcotics that are poisoning our Streets.
The drug pandemic in Madison County fuels other crimes such as burglary, robbery, assaults and even murder. Although law enforcement can only do so much due to the court system, my plan is to target the drug houses, dealers and work to shut down the poison they are pumping into our community.
I plan to work closely with other local law enforcement agencies to form an alliance to combat the drug sales and usage together.
Agencies that are capable of working together in harmony are capable of doing great things for the community.
Every arrest will be made known to the public in press release statements that include:
1. The suspect
2. The type of narcotic
3. The amount of narcotic
4. The filed charges
Burglaries
As aforementioned, narcotics fuel burglaries due to individuals feeling the need to steal or rob so they can either trade or sell for illegal substances.
Proactive patrols must be conducted in all regions of the county. My plan is to assign certain deputies with special skill sets to target problem areas, along with patrolling areas which have not received adequate law enforcement presence in the past, as all of Madison County deserves attention.
Deputies will be assigned patrol zones which will rotate on a predetermined basis. They will log their patrol activity through dispatch throughout the duration of the shift. Extra patrols will be conducted for businesses and residents through out the county. Requests for extra patrols will be honored by the Sheriff’s Office, if I am elected.
I plan to work closely with deputies to assure they are provided with the equipment they need to safely perform their duties.
All equipment will be checked and verified as in appropriate working order. Grants as well as government funding will help offset costs. Equipment such as body cams, dash cameras, mobile data computers, and tasers will be maintained and carried by each deputy. Mobile data computers will allow for deputies to work from their personal terminal anywhere in the county which allows for them to be out on patrol rather than stuck at the office for extended periods of time.
My goal will be to hire and retain deputies with strong work ethic and morals so they can serve our county to the best of their ability. These deputies will attend trainings every single year so they are refreshed on proper procedures for investigations as well as officer safety. Deputies will be expected to follow policy and procedures set forth by the office.

April 10-16th is Telecommunications Week.
During this week, we celebrate the unsung heroes! These professionals are the voice behind the scenes, the people that answer the phone when you call for help, the people that keep our police, fire, and emergency medical services safe when on calls for service.
They multitask many events at one time, ask the questions that give responding personnel needed information to resolve the call for service efficiently. They are often overlooked in all that they do. This week we celebrate them!
Thank you for all that you do!
April is recognized as Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Month nationally & in Missouri. It is a month to highlight & make an extra effort to create awareness about the importance of strengthening families & preventing child abuse & neglect. As a law enforcement officer for the City of Bonne Terre and an investigator, I have participated in countless investigations regarding child abuse and neglect as well as child sexual abuse. I have investigated cases during my time in Madison County as a Detective and know what is necessary to protect the Children of Madison County. It is important that our community recognizes that these kinds of abuse and neglect occur and report such instances. I am a firm believer of see something, say something. If you suspect a child or children are being abused, please report what you have witnessed to law enforcement as well as the State of Missouri Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-392-3738 toll free.
On March 17, 2022, my friend, partner, and coworker Officer Lane Burns, paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Lane was funny, loved his family and friends, and was a dedicated officer and public servant. He was loved by all and brought joy to every life that he touched. Lane was known to be a jokester and loved his job. Lane leaves behind two children and fiancé. Please pray for his parents, family, and friends during this horrifying, heartbreaking time. Heaven gained an angel and a protector of the people. Thank you 306, Rest In Peace, we will take it from here. I love you buddy- 315

I strongly believe in upholding the Constitution of the United States of America, as well as the Missouri State Constitution and the laws governing thereof. If elected as your Sheriff, I affirm that I would uphold the Constitutions giving the citizens of Madison County, the reassurance that they will have rights set forth by the Constitution of the United States of America and the Missouri State Constitution.
“The Constitution of Missouri states that “all political power is vested in and derived from the people; that all government of right originates from the people.” There is great power in freedom; as Americans, we have created that strength and have a duty to maintain it. Our freedom is reliant on integrity, honesty, and civility – and we have been given an incredible opportunity to model this for the next generation.” (John Ashcroft, Secretary of State).
Freedom is such a powerful aptitude. Freedom allows for you to speak freely, practice the religion of your choice, own fi****ms, go to school, work, and live wherever you see fit. We as Americans are responsible for maintaining the balance of law and order to keep Democracy and Freedom alive. In order to accomplish freedom, the people must consider compassion, reasonableness, understanding, and God’s will.
Our founding fathers meant for the constitution to be the law of the land.
According to Article VI, Clause 2 of the United States of America.
“This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the Supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every state shall be bound thereby, any thing in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding” (ArtVI.C2. Supremacy of Federal Law, US Constitution).
If elected Sheriff of Madison County, I will protect the rights of the citizens pursuant of the Constitution as their birth given rights. I will fight for our citizens to maintain their rights. I will defend the rights as outlined in the Bill of Rights including the right to bear and keep arms. I will stand with the citizens of Madison County against tyranny. I will not step aside or step down but defend our rights not only for the ability to keep and bear arms, but for all our rights given by the Constitution.
In closing, I have included the link which contains both the United States Constitution and the Missouri State Constitution. Again, if anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me.

Protect Your Pets and Animals
Bring your companion animals indoors.
Create a place where your other animals can be comfortable in severe winter weather. Horses and livestock should have a shelter where they can be protected from wind, snow, ice, and rain. Grazing animals should have access to a protected supply of food and non-frozen water.
Be aware of the potential for flooding when snow and ice melt and be sure that your animals have access to high ground that is not impeded by fencing or other barriers. You may not be able to get to them in time to relocate them in the event of flooding.
Install snow fences in rural areas to reduce drifting snow on roads and paths, which could block access to homes, barns, and animals' feed and water.
If You Do Nothing Else, Do This
Listen to local area radio, NOAA radio or TV stations for the latest information and updates.
Be prepared to evacuate if you lose power or heat and know your routes and destinations. Find a local emergency shelter.
Check emergency kit and replenish any items missing or in short supply, especially medications and medical supplies. Keep it nearby.
Be sure you have ample heating fuel.
If you have alternative heating sources, such as fireplaces, wood- or coal-burning stoves, or space heaters, be sure they are clean and in working order.
Bring your companion animals inside and ensure that your horses and livestock have blankets if appropriate and unimpeded access to shelter, food, and non-frozen water.

Protect Your Family
Talk with your family about what to do if a winter storm watch or warning is issued.
Have your vehicle winterized before the winter storm season to decrease your chance of being stranded.
Have a mechanic check your battery, antifreeze, wipers and windshield washer fluid, ignition system, thermostat, lights, flashing hazard lights, exhaust system, heater, brakes, defroster, and oil.
Install good winter tires with adequate tread. All-weather radials are usually adequate but some jurisdictions require vehicles to be equipped with chains or snow tires with studs.
When on the road;
Keep in your vehicle:
A windshield scraper and small broom
A small sack of sand for generating traction under wheels and a set of tire chains or traction mats
Matches in a waterproof container
A brightly colored (preferably red) cloth to tie to the antenna
An emergency supply kit, including warm clothing
Keep your vehicle’s gas tank full so you can leave right away in an emergency and to keep the fuel line from freezing.
Keep a supply of non-clumping kitty litter to make walkways and steps less slippery.
Service snow removal equipment before the winter storm season and maintain it in good working order.
Keep handy a warm coat, gloves or mittens, hat, water-resistant boots, and extra blankets and warm clothing for everyone in your household.
Protect Your Home
Learn how to protect pipes from freezing.
Make sure your home heating sources are installed according to local codes and permit requirements and are clean and in working order.
Make sure your home is properly insulated. Caulk and weather-strip doors and windowsills to keep cold air out.
Install storm windows or cover windows with plastic from the inside to provide an extra layer of insulation to keep cold air out.
Consider buying emergency heating equipment, such as a wood- or coal-burning stove or an electric or kerosene heater (if permitted by law in your area). Follow all of the manufacturer's instructions for safe installation and use.
Consider storing sufficient heating fuel. Regular fuel sources may be cut off. Be cautious of fire hazards when storing any type of fuel.
If you have a fireplace, consider keeping a supply of firewood or coal. Be sure the fireplace is properly vented and in good working order and that you dispose of ashes safely.
Consider installing a portable generator, following our safety tips to avoid home fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.
