"This month, we're focusing on ✨RESPECT✨ - seeing value in all people and things & treating them with care. It's one of the foundation stones of a strong school and home community. Respect means recognizing the worth and dignity in every person, treating others' belongings and feelings with care, and understanding that how we treat people matters.
When students practice respect, they build stronger relationships, create safer spaces, and develop the empathy and kindness our world needs. Here are some ways you can nurture respect at home:
▪️Model respect daily — Show your child how you treat others with kindness and consideration, even in difficult moments. Kids learn respect by watching us live it.
▪️Teach them to listen actively — When your child speaks, put away distractions and truly listen. Then encourage them to do the same for others. Active listening is a powerful form of respect.
▪️Help them care for belongings — Talk about why we take care of our things and others' things. Practice putting items away carefully and handling them with intention.
▪️Discuss different perspectives — Ask your child, ""How might someone else feel about this?"" Help them see that respecting others means valuing viewpoints different from their own.
Let's build a culture where every person and thing is valued. "
