On 02 August 2025, the 220th Motor Transportation Battalion conducted a Change of Responsibility Ceremony in which Command Sergeant Major Shannon Andrews relinquished battalion senior enlisted responsibilities to Master Sergeant Scott Seib.

Presiding over the ceremony was 220th Motor Transportation Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Colonel James Frazier. Distinguished guests at the ceremony included Assistant Adjutant General Army, Brigadier General Matthew Bacon, State Command Sergeant Major, Command Sergeant Major Bobby Richards, and 35th Military Police Brigade Command Sergeant Major, Command Sergeant Major James Brown. Also in attendance was Command Sergeant Major Andrews wife, Julie.

We thank Command Sergeant Major Andrews for his 6 year tenure as the 220th Motor Transportation Battalion Command Sergeat Major, where he displayed unwavering dedication to duty and Soldier Care! We welcome Master Sergeant Seib to the 220th and expect great things!

220th Soldier Spotlight-2nd Lieutenant Austin Mickan!

2nd Lieutenant Mickan distinguished himself through exceptional performance while attending Transportation Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC) this summer! Of 114 Officers enrolled in the course, 2nd Lieutenant Mickan earned recognition as the highest-performing National Guard Officer, demonstrating outstanding leadership, technical proficiency, and commitment to excellence. In acknowledgment of his achievement, he was presented with the prestigious Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM) coin by The Deputy Commanding General.

2nd Lieutenant Mickan currently serves as the Full-Time Unit Support Personnel Officer for the 220th Motor Transportation Battalion and is assigned as a Platoon Leader with the 1231st Transportation Company. Well done 2nd Lieutenant Mickan!

220th Soldier Spotlight-Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Shannon Andrews!

It couldn’t have been more appropriate that we reached our battalion retention goal target for FY25 then with the re-enlistment of our very own Battalion Command Sergeant Major-CSM Shannon Andrews!

On 09 June, Assistant Adjutant General-Army, Brigadier General Matthew Bacon administered the oath of re-enlistment to CSM Andrews at Camp Gruber Training Site. His re-enlistment was the sixty-eighth of the fiscal year, achieving the battalion goal set in October 2024, with over four months to go.

Enlisting in 1987, CSM Andrews new term of service will end with him completing over four decades of service in the Missouri National Guard! Congratulations, CSM Andrews!

Truck Rodeo Action!

During Annual Training activities at Camp Gruber, Soldiers from all 220th Motor Transportation Battalion units participated in our Truck Rodeo competition!

The Truck Rodeo consists of tasks which test individual Soldier skills in transportation operations, in which the unit accumulating the most points is awarded a streamer on the Transportation Commander’s Cup! Tasks evaluated include: Load Tie Down, Serpentine Navigation, Straight Line Backing with Trailer, Corner Backing with Trailer, PMCS, and Tire Change (timed).

Transporters don’t often get the opportunity to train in the warfighting functions of protection and fires! Soldiers of the 1231st and 1241st Transportation Companies, headquartered in Bridgeton and Monett, were able to qualify on the hand gr***de range during our battalion Annual Training activities at Camp Gruber! These Soldiers will now be able to display the hand gr***de qualification badge on their Army Service Uniform!

Headquarter and Headquarters Detachment (HHD) Staff Sergeant Bobby Lands and Private First Class Matthew Plappert, delivered communication classes, encompassing OE-254 antenna assembly and JBC-P systems operations. Training on new equipment and refresher training are crucial to HHD's mission in supporting the 220th Motor Transportation Battalion and all Units!

Annual Training 2025 is in motion!

The 220th has arrived at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma for our 2025 Annual Training activities! On Monday, our Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Colonel James Frazier, and Battalion Command Sergeant Major, Shannon Andrews, qualified on the M17 pistol range while discussing with Soldiers the importance of range safety operations!
