Fredericktown EMS Welcome to the home page for Fredericktown EMS.

Our site is designed as both an informative and educational portal for squad members, citizens, and other departments alike to benefit. We have a 2010 Horton ambulance and a 2015 Braun ambulance, as well as a equipped Chevy Tahoe. We also have equipped a John Deere Gator to be used as an alternate response vehicle for off- road emergencies and special events. We also have a trailer that we have wo

rked with multiple organizations for use in the case if disasters when additional resources and shelter is needed. With these vehicles we serve the northwestern portion of Knox County, Ohio which includes the Village of Fredericktown, as well as Berlin, Middlebury, Wayne, Pike, and a portion of Morris Townships. The population we provide our services to has grown to over 8,700 residents expanding throughout our rural community. Our Station, based in the Village of Fredericktown, operates two Advanced Life Support ambulances. Both of these ambulances are equipped with some of the latest life saving technology, which can range from cardiac and pulmonary care to trauma treatment and injury management. Our station is staffed 24/7/365 by one crew and then additional runs and manpower are covered by volunteers. In 2016, our members handled over 900 calls for service, which is over a 12 percent increase from 2015.

With the increase in e-bike injuries in the county this last week, we want to put out a PSA to all parents who have children riding e-bikes. Please make sure your children know about the dangers of these bikes, and be responsible riding them.

E-bike injuries are rising, especially among kids and teens.

• More than 87,400 children were injured in e-bike crashes from 2017–2023.
• Injuries at one children’s hospital increased 267% from 2021–2024.
• Higher speeds can cause serious head, neck, facial and internal injuries.

Ride smart:

• Wear a helmet every ride.
• Follow traffic laws.
• Slow down near cars and intersections.
• Keep both hands on the handlebars.
• Know your bike’s speed.

E-bikes aren’t toys. Wear a helmet and ride safely.

It’s no secret that Fredericktown EMS and Fredericktown Community Fire District have had a busy and emotional week. We’re thankful for the visitors who stopped by the station today for a little four-legged therapy session.

Sometimes, a few wagging tails, wet noses, and plenty of cuddles are exactly what the crew needs.

We’re grateful for our community and all the little ways you continue to support us.

School Bus Safety: Slow Down, Stay Alert

School is starting, which means those big yellow buses will be back on the roads.

A few reminders from Fredericktown EMS:

* Slow down when you see a school bus.
* Stop when the bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended.
* Watch carefully for children crossing the road.
* Never pass a stopped school bus.
* Give buses plenty of room when they are loading or unloading students.
* Be extra alert in neighborhoods and near school zones.

Kids may not always pay attention to traffic, so it is up to all of us to help keep them safe.

Slow down. Stop. Stay alert. Let’s get every student to school and home safely.

It has been a very wet week,

Please keep in mind that rainy roads can turn a normal drive into a dangerous one fast.

With wet roads, reduced visibility, standing water, and longer stopping distances, it’s important to slow down and give yourself extra room.

A few simple reminders:
• Slow down
• Turn your headlights on
• Leave extra distance
• Avoid standing water when possible
• Keep your tires in good condition
• Stay focused and avoid distractions
• Move over when you see emergency vehicles
• Check weather and road conditions before heading out

If conditions become dangerous and you don’t have to travel, staying home may be the safest choice.

And remember, if you have an emergency, call 911 and let us come to you.
