STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE…

10:01 AM: Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania will be under the risk to see a couple of stronger thunderstorms between 4-8 PM this afternoon. Increasing wind shear and instability will support the risk for a few damaging wind gusts and perhaps a spin-up tornado. Not every location will see a storm or severe weather. Remain weather aware if you will be outdoors today! ⛈️ ⚠️

The Storm Prediction Center has placed our area under an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. While not everyone will experience severe weather, all hazards are possible, with damaging straight-line winds being the primary concern. Large hail, heavy rainfall, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Now is a great time to prepare:
🌩️ Secure or bring inside loose outdoor items.
📱 Make sure your phone has Wireless Emergency Alerts enabled.
🔋 Charge electronic devices in case of power outages.
🏠 Know where you will take shelter if a warning is issued. The safest place is an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, away from windows.
🚗 Never drive through flooded roadways.

The Fredonia Volunteer Fire Department will be monitoring conditions throughout the day. We encourage everyone to stay weather aware, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and avoid relying solely on outdoor warning sirens.
