Last night for driver/pumping operations training, we went to a static water source. Our main objective was to draft water and relay pump into our ladder 660. We drafted through a floating barrel strainer and a barrel stainer resting on ladder.

Training like this gives our members valuable hands-on experience and better prepares us for structure fires in non-hydrant areas where a reliable water supply must be established quickly and efficiently.

Great work by all members who participated!

This Memorial Day, we ask our community to take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything for them.

From all of us at the Fredonia Fire Department, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their legacy. 🇺🇸

This week, May 17–23, we proudly recognize National EMS Week and honor the dedicated EMS professionals who serve our community with skill, compassion, and professionalism every day.

We would especially like to thank the EMRs, EMTs, AEMTs, and paramedics, within our own department for their commitment to providing exceptional emergency medical care whenever the call comes in; day or night. Thank you for all that you do to protect and care for others. We are proud to serve alongside you.

This evening, members participated in a comprehensive multi-company training exercise focused on basement fire operations and firefighter rescue procedures. Crews advanced hand lines throughout the basement to conduct coordinated fire attack and search operations while reinforcing hose management and fireground communication skills.

As part of the scenario, firefighters also trained on a simulated MAYDAY situation involving a downed firefighter. Crews practiced rapid intervention techniques, locating, packaging, and removing the firefighter from the structure safely and efficiently.

Additional operations included flowing water from the ladder truck’s elevated master stream while crews simultaneously operated two hand lines on the ground. These training evolutions are essential in maintaining operational readiness, strengthening teamwork, and ensuring our members are prepared to respond effectively to real-world emergencies.

Continuous training remains a critical part of our commitment to protecting and serving our community safely and professionally.

Spring cleanup season is here and so are hidden fire hazards around the home.

As you start cleaning up yards, garages, and outdoor spaces, keep these safety tips in mind:
• Clean dried leaves and debris away from grills, fire pits, and foundations
• Check extension cords for damage before outdoor use
• Test smoke alarms while doing spring cleaning
• Store gasoline and fuels in approved containers only
• Keep outdoor fires attended at all times
• Make sure house numbers are visible from the road for emergency responders

A little spring maintenance can go a long way in preventing emergencies.

Stay safe and enjoy the warmer weather ☀️🚒

Today YOUR Fredonia Fire Department responded to 4 calls for service in just 3 hours. 3 of which were EMS related including 2 that were simultaneous calls for service. Our 4th call was to provide response coverage for Ozaukee Central Fire Department while they were mitigating a complex call themselves. A sincere thank you to our volunteers and paid staff for making sure none of these calls went unanswered!

As things start to dry out, brush fires can spark fast and spread even faster—especially with wind. Here are a few simple ways to help prevent them:

•Watch the wind: Avoid burning on windy days. Even a small gust can carry embers far into dry grass.

•Always monitor burn piles: Never leave a fire unattended, and keep water or a hose nearby at all times.

•Dispose of smoking materials properly: Tossing ci******es on the ground can easily start a fire.

•Be mindful with equipment: Chains, mowers, and ATVs can create sparks when hitting rocks or metal.

•Create defensible space: Keep dry brush, leaves, and debris cleared away from buildings and structures.

•Follow local burn regulations: If conditions are too dry, burning may be restricted for a reason.

Brush fires can move quickly and put homes, wildlife, and firefighters at risk. A few small precautions can make a big difference.

Have you checked your property for dry brush yet this season?

This week, we’re proud to celebrate National Telecommunicators Week—a time to recognize the incredible individuals behind the scenes who keep our community safe every single day.

A couple of our members had the opportunity to stop by the Ozaukee County Dispatch Center to drop off baskets of treats and energy drinks as a token of our appreciation. While it’s a simple gesture, it comes with a big THANK YOU for the dedication, professionalism, and calm voices that guide us through every call.

Our dispatchers are truly the first, first responders—working around the clock to support emergency personnel and the public when it matters most.

From all of us at the Fredonia Fire Department, thank you for everything you do this week and every week. We couldn’t do it without you!
