‼️9/2/2026 Update | Voluntary Water Conservation Measures‼️

The City of Fredonia appreciates the community's efforts to conserve water while staff work night and day to repair mainline breaks in the water distribution system. Water storage levels for the tank on South Mound have gradually increased but remain lower than normal. The City kindly requests water consumers to continue voluntary water conservation measures over the next 24 hours.

Examples of how you can help from yesterday's post:
• Don't water lawns, shrubs, or trees.
• Don't wash automobiles or other large items.
• Don't operate dishwashers or washing machines with small loads.

Completed water distribution system repairs in the past 36 hours:
• 300 block of S 8th Street
• 100 block of S 5th Street
• 300 block of Washington Street
• 400 block of Washington Street

Repairs expected to be completed this afternoon and evening:
• 7700 block of West Washington Street
• 100 block of N 5th Street
• 100 block of N 16th Street

The City has maintained communication with regulatory agencies and its treated water provider throughout these mainline breaks to ensure safe drinking water standards and requirements are being met and maintained.

We appreciate the community's continued efforts and understanding during this time. A final update will be posted tomorrow as soon as the water storage tank has reached normal operational levels.

Please reach out to City Hall at (620) 378-2231 if you have any concerns or questions.

‼️Request for Voluntary Water Conservation Measures‼️

The City of Fredonia is requesting all water consumers employ voluntary water conservation measures to limit or eliminate nonessential water use over the next 24 to 48 hours.

Examples of how you can help:
• Don't water lawns, shrubs, or trees.
• Don't wash automobiles or other large items.
• Don't operate dishwashers or washing machines with small loads.

The Water Department worked throughout the night to repair multiple breaks on large diameter water distribution lines. The water storage tank on South Mound has dropped in capacity as a result of these mainline breaks. Please voluntarily reduce nonessential water usage over the next 24 to 48 hours to allow the tank to return to its normal level.

The City is actively monitoring storage levels and working to restore tank volume as quickly and as safely as possible. Updates will be provided as conditions normalize.
