While Governor Pritzker dismisses affordability and claims residents do not understand the concept, House Republicans are fighting for real relief by proposing legislation to make life more affordable for working families.

Under Governor Pritzker:

❌ Illinois has the highest property tax rates in the nation
❌ Illinois residents pay the highest tax rates in the county
❌Democrats have passed 57 tax and fee hikes costing Illinois residents $77 billion
❌The average Illinois household now pays nearly $1,400 more per year in state taxes
❌Compared to Pritzker’s first year in office, the state is taking $18 billion more from taxpayers
❌Illinois has the highest combined state and local tax burden in the nation

No one has a hard time understanding "affordability" aside from the Governor and progressive Democrats who continue to hike taxes and fees on Illinois families.

Let's see if they break thier trend of tax, spend, and repeat. We must have fiscal sanity in Illinois to be prosperous.

House Republicans remain committed to holding Democrats accountable, opposing tax hikes, and fighting to make Illinois more affordable for working families.

The people of Illinois don't deserve to pay more for the majority party's mismanagement.

They are signaling a willingness to raise taxes as the May 31 deadline quickly approaches.

Rumors are pointing to a budget with more taxes than what the Governor proposed. Illinois taxpayers deserve better and deserve NO MORE TAX INCREASES!

The general assembly has only a few days to pass a state budget with a simple majority vote, yet House Republicans have been shutout from knowing the full details of the revenue and spending proposals. But we do know that MORE tax hikes are expected to come from a record-breaking $56 billion budget.

The Governor has already outlined his ploy to balance the budget: corporate tax hikes, new social media fees, increased casino taxes and one-time fund sweeps that take money from other sources.

Illinois taxpayers deserve a budget that is fair and reduces taxes, but this proposal clearly misses the mark!

As Illinois families continue to face rising utility bills, the supermajority party is doubling down on unreliable energy policies that are driving up costs.

House Republicans have introduced legislation focused on protecting grid reliability, lowering energy costs, and keeping proven energy sources like natural gas and coal available so families and businesses have affordable electricity when they need it most.

Last week, I visited a Millstadt 6th grade class and talked to the students about how a bill becomes law and provided the class with the State of Illinois Constitution booklets.

I also talked to them about bills I have sponsored. They were all engaged in conversation and had great questions for me!
