Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation BCHR&LF was incorporated as a nonprofit organization on December 14, 1971. It was later named the official Historical Society of Beaver County.

It was later named the official Historical Society of Beaver County, Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation, located in the Vicary Mansion at Freedom, PA. The Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation was incorporated as a nonprofit organization on December 14, 1971. The purpose of the Foundation is the collection, preservation, and interpretation of Beaver County's historical sites, records and artifacts for the educational benefit of the public. The Foundation, which is supervised by a board of trustees is involved in a number of ongoing activities:

Operation of the Beaver County History Center at the Vicary Mansion
Publication of Milestones - a quarterly magazine about Beaver County history
Publication and reprinting of historical literature including: The 1976 Bicentennial Atlas, The 20th Century History of Beaver County, Rivers of Destiny - The Beaver County Bicentennial Book and A Guide to Historical Landmarks in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. Selection of up to four historic sites each year and dedication of these locations with historical markers. Distribution of Heritage markers for residences which meet historic criteria

So, I just read an article slanted towards the government left them there to die , Amelia and οΏΌ her navigator... On May 21, 1937 her plane ran out of fuel and went down over the Pacific Ocean near Howland Island... She was trying to fly around the earth, a distance of 27,000 miles, at its widest point... (around the equator)
Last week, I just found her book at a used book sale... about her life and disappearance... going to read it now... there are programs about her on tv now, news... Now, trying to find her plane after all these years!

So, this past week I sighted a train carrying many John Deere tractors through the railroad yards outside the Vicary House windows... it was amazing to see so many... They were headed towards Pittsburgh so I'm wondering exactly where their destination will be? There were green John Deere tractors as far as the eye could see... wow!

So, it's Apple Butter time this coming Saturday, October 17th. 10 am to 5 pm... At the Captain's Mansion... The volunteers will be washing the apples on Thursday and coring them on Friday in readiness for the next day for cooking them in the copper pot over an outdoor fire... Rain or shine...
There will be tours of the mansion...
Plus, a history power point to view...

So, The Beaver Valley Piecemakers are at the CCBC Dome today and tomorrow with their quilt show... $10 admission, silent auction, Chinese auction, sewing machine, and quilt raffle... vendors from many Quilt Shops selling their wares of supplies, finished projects, and crafts items... many of the quilts pertain to America's 250th year, which are the ones I'm posting here... Red, white, and blue everywhere you looked! Come visit and see for yourself... 10 - 4 pm tomorrow... closed now for today...
BCHR&LF supports their own quilting classes, meeting throughout the year...
