The East Freehold Fire Company would like to thank the taxpayers and residents of Freehold Township , as well as the Board of Fire Commissioners, for their continued investment in the safety of our volunteer firefighters.

With the support of our residents, who voted YES to approve the Fire District’s budget, the Board of Fire Commissioners was able to purchase eight brand-new sets of LION structural firefighting PPE through the District’s partnership with Galls. This was a planned investment of taxpayer dollars to replace and maintain the protective equipment our firefighters depend on every time they answer the call.

Firefighter protective equipment is specialized, highly regulated, and expensive. To put the cost of this purchase into perspective, outfitting ONE firefighter can cost approximately:

🧥 Structural Turnout Coat — $2,500
👖 Structural Turnout Pants — $1,900
🥾 Structural Bunker Boots — $500
⛑️ Structural Firefighting Helmet — $650
🧤 Structural Firefighting Gloves — $150
🔥 Particulate-Blocking Hood — $200

That’s approximately $5,900 per firefighter, or nearly $47,200 for eight complete sets of protective equipment.

As a 100% volunteer fire company, our members give their time to serve and protect Freehold Township 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. While the manpower is volunteer, the equipment required to safely perform the job represents a significant financial investment.

Eight new sets. Eight better-protected volunteer firefighters. One community investing in the people who answer the call. 🚒🇺🇸

🚨 MUTUAL AID RESPONSE — MANALAPAN TOWNSHIP 🚨

This morning at approximately 3:02 AM, the East Freehold Fire Company was dispatched as part of a Mutual Aid Box Alarm into Manalapan Township (26-1), with a request for our Tower 16-2-90.

Upon arrival, our crew was assigned to assist with fire suppression operations, conducting an interior attack in the rear of the residence.

Our members worked alongside Manalapan Township firefighters and other mutual aid companies to bring the incident under control.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office.

We thank all of the firefighters and emergency personnel who responded and worked together throughout the early-morning incident.

Today, members of the East Freehold Fire Company stopped by a lemonade stand at the corner of Kentucky Way & Route 537 to show our support for the 5th grade class of the Catena School, right here in our fire district!

We’re always proud to support the students, families, and schools that make our community such a great place to serve.

Last night, members of the East Freehold Fire Company took advantage of a beautiful summer evening to conduct hands-on pump and apparatus training.

With several of our members recently completing Pump School, last night’s drill gave them the opportunity to take what they learned in the classroom and put it into practice. The drill also served as an important refresher for our already-qualified drivers and pump operators, allowing everyone to sharpen their skills and stay proficient with our apparatus.

Crews worked with both our engine and ladder truck, flowing multiple handlines and elevated master streams while practicing the skills required to safely and effectively supply water on the fireground.

Completing Pump School is an important step in our department’s driver/operator qualification process. Driving a fire truck is only part of the job—our operators must also understand their apparatus, establish and maintain a reliable water supply, operate the pump, provide the proper pressure and flow to crews, and adapt when conditions change.

Whether a member is working toward qualification or has been qualified for years, these are perishable skills that require continued practice and repetition. Training nights like this allow newer operators to learn alongside experienced members while giving our qualified operators an opportunity to refresh their knowledge and remain ready for the next call.

Congratulations to our members who recently completed Pump School and continue working toward their driver/operator qualifications. The training never stops!

Today, our members conducted cleanup operations following the FCI fire.

Even after the emergency response concludes, critical work remains. Our volunteers spent the day restoring equipment, clearing the scene, and ensuring readiness for future operations.

We extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated members for their continued service, as well as our mutual aid partners who supported us throughout the incident. Your professionalism and teamwork are deeply appreciated.

Last night at approximately 10:00 PM, the East Freehold Fire Company was dispatched to a large warehouse fire (Transfer Station) at Freehold Cartage Inc. (FCI).

Upon arrival, Assistant Chief Bailey (16-2-67) upgraded the response to a Box Alarm, which was later escalated to a 3rd Alarm due to the size and complexity of the incident. Multiple fire companies from across Monmouth and Ocean County responded, along with Freehold EMS, Monmouth County Haz-Mat, Monmouth County Public Works, Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office, Monmouth County Communications (Dispatchers), FTPD and the Canteen Unit.

We thank all mutual aid partners and support agencies for their professionalism, coordination, and teamwork in safely bringing the incident under control. Large-scale emergencies such as this underscore the strength of our regional mutual aid system and the dedication of all personnel involved. The scene was cleared at 11:30 AM today.

Together, we are stronger. 🚒🚑
