HONOR OUR VETERANS and SUPPORT OUR TROOPS RALLY!

Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Pond!

The very first Olde Freehold Day 50 year anniversary event will be an Honor Our Veterans/Support Our Troops rally! Calling all veterans, active duty military, and the people that love and appreciate them, come on out to the Pond (Lake Topanemus) and show your support!

It will be a short, but solemn, ceremony consisting of patriotic music, bagpipe march, veteran recognition, and a keynote speech delivered by Freehold historian Kevin Coyne.

All veterans attending the ceremony will be presented with a USA 250/Olde Freehold Day 50 collectable souvenir.

EASY parking at the Monmouth County Courthouse, then take a free shuttle bus to the Pond. After the ceremony you can either stick around to enjoy Olde Freehold Day or catch the shuttle back to the courthouse.

We look forward to the community joining together for a wonderful family day filled with fun, laughter, music, food & drink.

Memorial Day veteran's grave flags at Maplewood Cemetery will be placed on Saturday, May 23rd.

A thank you note to those members and friends who answered our plea for donations to help replace our air conditioning system. The new system has been installed and is ready for the summer heat.

Because of your generosity, the system is paid in full and we didn't have to borrow any money!

If you've ever been in the back yard during the summer when the old system came on, you know that it was so loud that it was impossible to talk when the compressor was running and your ears rang for a while after it stopped. The new unit is so quiet that you don't even know that it's running. That and the anticipated electricity savings from the more efficient unit make this a real win for the post.

At the recent Post 54 member meeting, 10 year old Eloise Richmond made a presentation before the members. Eloise is a student at Art Beins Karate and Kickboxing, here in Freehold, and will be testing for her black belt in July.

To meet the requirements for the black belt test, each candidate must perform community service. Part of the black belt curriculum and training is about dedication, compassion and giving back to the community. For her service project, Eloise has chosen a cause that is very important to her family, supporting and honoring veterans.

Eloise will be collecting items, such as socks and hygienic items, that will be given to military veterans in need living in the area. Eloise's grandfather, the late Eugene Richmond, was a veteran and past commander of Post 54 from 1990-1992. The Richmond family has always been good to the post and Eloise is carrying on a family tradition.

Anyone wanting to donate to the veterans can drop items off at the post for the next week or so.
