Just a few days left until the Election. I have to admit I was not cut out for campaigning! I Think I do a much better job with the protect and serve! I hope to continue with that part for a long time to come. I have felt the support and heard the encouraging words from the residents here in Hutchinson County. My Deputies and Myself work hard to show the improvement to the Department and the dedication that goes with it! If you approve in the work we have done please show it one more time and vote this coming Tuesday. I just want to say that the Sheriffs office is more than the Sheriff, Its about the team we put together and they are the best! Thank you to all the Donors and all the Businesses that donated to the National Child Safety council. We have raised $2795 so far! What we raise helps the local schools and Departments with safety talks and learning materials. As Sheriff I would like to share the top 5 things that I believe in!
1. Honesty, always tell the truth. Its not always easy and sometimes it hurts. As a Officer our words matter!

2. Integrity, Do what's right, treat everyone with respect and treat everyone equal no matter what!

3. Dependability, the Sheriff's position is not a 40 hour a week job. It is a life choice that you make. You have to be ready and willing to serve and follow through when you make a commitment!

4 Experience, I have 20 years of law enforcement experience, 15 years of firefighting and 20 years of first responder training.

5. Compassion, whether its giving a warning instead of a ticket, or holding the hand of someone that needs help. Its about caring for the people we protect and serve!

As Sheriff I have done my best to make our communities a safe place. My Department has Increased traffic enforcement through traffic stops and partnering with the SD Highway Patrol on Sobriety Checkpoints. We have reduced the number or speed related accidents and fatalities. We added an additional Deputy to patrol. As a result we have decreased the burglaries and crimes in our community. We act as partners with the Cities and provide support and advice when asked. We have a strong team in our county and cities and I am proud to be a part of it! Meet my new Deputy! Ok grandaughter, but maybe some day Deputy! She has been in the hospital for a week but doing great! Hope to have her home soon! Thank you for all the support!
