Congratulations to Lieutenant Matt Vangeli on completing the ALERRT Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) Train-the-Trainer Course!

For the past five days, Lt. Vangeli trained in Matamoras, Pennsylvania alongside some of the best fire and law enforcement professionals from across the state under instructors from the Texas State University ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) Center.

Upon successful completion of the course, Lt. Vangeli is now certified to teach the Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) program, providing Palmer Municipal Fire Department with the ability to deliver nationally recognized, evidence-based active attack response training to our members and partner agencies.

This training builds on the department’s recent ALICE certification and is another important step toward developing a coordinated active assailant response capability for both PMFD and our region. Just as importantly, it strengthens the working relationships between fire, EMS and law enforcement, ensuring a unified, coordinated response during high-risk incidents where every second matters.

We are incredibly proud of Lt. Vangeli for his dedication to professional development and his commitment to bringing this knowledge back to our department and community. His leadership helps ensure that PMFD continues to train, prepare, and evolve to meet today’s public safety challenges.

Beginning August 1st, residents and businesses throughout Palmer Township will begin receiving our 2026 Fund Drive Reminder Letter in the mail.

If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, there’s still time! Your tax-deductible contribution helps support the training, equipment, and emergency readiness of the men and women of the Palmer Municipal Fire Department. Every donation—no matter the amount—helps us continue providing professional emergency services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Today our Drone Unit teamed up with Wolf Pack Search & Recovery to give Camp Palmer campers an exciting look at search, rescue, and community safety in action.

Thanks to Sarah Krause & Lisa Macintyre (Wolf Pack) for the great presentation and to Watson the K9.
Campers learned how his nose tracks scent trails to find missing people, while our drones showed how aerial tech helps cover ground fast.

Thank you to Sgt. Unangst for coordinating another great Community Safety visit this summer.
