Today Friday the 15th at 1337hrs A shift was called for a bench on fire next to a vehicle which then started to catch on fire. Crews quickly extinguished the fire. There were burn damages to the vehicle. No injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.

Head to your local Dunkin’ (1811 S. West Ave) on Friday, May 15th from 5am to Noon to support , a Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraising event benefitting Special Olympicsathletes across Illinois.

On Friday, May 1st, Firefighters Donovan Opsahl, Matthew Thomas, and Jace Flynn graduated from Romeoville Fire Academy Class #8426 during a ceremony held at Mistwood Golf Club in Romeoville, IL.

Firefighter Opsahl served as the class Sergeant at Arms and was presented with the class flag and the Leadership Award for his efforts.

Firefighters will return to Freeport on Monday where they will continue to build upon the foundation provided to them at Academy.

Congratulations and well done gentlemen!

HOW TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF "RE-FRESH FREEPORT"

The 1st Saturday of each month, residents who live within the city limits of Freeport are able to bring trash and bulk items to the Freeport Transfer Station located at 2133 S. Walnut Road from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m.

⚠️ ID’s will be required for verification of residency. Accepted items do NOT include yard waste of any kind, tires, hazardous waste such as paint and oils, TVs, computers, or other electronics.

Gill's has informed the City that many vehicles have been turned away in the last two months due to non-Freeport residents attempting to utilize the service. While we love the enthusiasm to eliminate illegal dumping, it's important that we emphasize that this is for Freeport residents only. If issues such as this persist, the event could be discontinued.
