If mailing your payment, go inside the post office to ask for a hand postmark. We honor the official USPS postmark as the date paid. Dropping a check in a mailbox does not guarantee a dated postmark.

Two of those days fall on a weekend, limiting payment options.

To avoid lines and last‑minute issues, please don’t wait until the final couple of days to make your payment. Taking care of it early helps ensure everything goes smoothly.

Bids for the Stephenson County Surplus property auction are due August 21st. We recommend the online option available at https://iltaxsale.com/new/index.php/county/Stephenson/STE The online process is easier, and no bid funds are required up front. Payment is required only if you are the successful highest bidder.

ILTaxSale.com advertises tax deed auctions for Joseph E. Meyer & Associates. Joseph E. Meyer & Associates collects unwanted tax liens for 80 counties in illinois. Once they obtain a tax deed the property is offered at public sale.

We’re down to 2 days remaining to make an on-time payment for the 1st installment of property taxes.

Reminder that office hours are 8:30am-4:30 pm.

If paying at a county partner bank or directly in our office, you must bring your entire bill. The payment receipt is part of the bill itself.
If you’ve misplaced your bill, we can reprint a copy for you for $1.00 per parcel.

Mailed property tax payments will be accepted as on-time with an official USPS postmark date of June 26, 2026, even if they are received after that date. Postmarks generated by any other postage meters are not acceptable for meeting the deadline.

If you need a same‑day postmark, please note that you must go to the post office counter and request a manual postmark.
This ensures your payment is properly dated.

Thank you to all who have made payments thus far. Please note that the due date is now less than two weeks away. The office is generally open 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. All county offices will be closed to observe the Juneteenth federal holiday on June 19th.

Stephenson County property tax bills will be mailed directly from the printer on May 20th.

1st installment due date is June 26th
2nd installment due date is September 4th

On May 26th, the tax bills will populate online here: https://stephensonil.devnetwedge.com/ and will be available to both print and pay directly. Banks will also begin accepting payments on May 26th. Additionally, there is a QR code on the back side of each payment coupon for easy online payment.

The tax bill format is different this year, and it contains a lot of important information. PLEASE READ YOUR ENTIRE BILL - BOTH SIDES - WHEN YOU RECEIVE IT. In the meantime, please review the images here for information.

QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT
We are in the very early stages of creating, testing, and balancing Stephenson County tax bills. If you've used our InvoiceCloud system previously to make any kind of electronic payment, you MAY have received what appear to be invoices for property taxes. This is a test of email addresses only. THESE ARE NOT ACTUAL INVOICES, SO PLEASE DISREGARD THEM.

We expect to have our printer mail the hard copy bills during the third week of May, with the first installment due date being June 26th.
