At the City of Freeport, every grant dollar represents an opportunity to strengthen our community, improve services, and enhance the quality of life for our residents.

We're proud to share this infographic highlighting the investments made possible through grant funding. From infrastructure improvements to public services and community development initiatives, these projects reflect our commitment to making the most of every funding opportunity available.

The Finance Department works diligently behind the scenes to identify, secure, manage, and report on grant funds with accuracy, accountability, and transparency. We believe our residents deserve to see an easy to read graphic showing how these resources are being invested and the impact they have throughout our city.

Last night, Freeport City Council addressed planning, policy updates, board appointments, and community development initiatives that will help shape the City's future.

📅 Community Updates
Upcoming events highlighted included:
🖼️ Juneteenth Exhibit at the Freeport Historical Museum (through June 20)
🦈 Shark Exhibit at the Museum all summer long
📚 Story Time with the Freeport Library – June 10

🏡 Public Hearing & Zoning
Council held a public hearing and considered a rezoning request for property located in the 200 Block of South Avenue B, changing the designation from General Commercial (C-2) to Single Family Residential (R-1).

🗂️ City Business
✅ Approved minutes from the May 11 and May 18 meetings.
💰 Set dates for the upcoming FY 2026-2027 Budget Workshops.
📘 Considered amendments to the City's Flextime policy within the Personnel Policy Manual.
👥 Appointed and reappointed members to various City boards and commissions.
🤝 Considered appointments of City Council liaisons to boards and commissions.
📑 Discussed possible amendments to City Council agenda procedures and board nomination procedures.
🚓 Considered resolutions declaring Freeport Police Department property surplus, including items designated for donation.

💬 Work Session
Councilmembers, the Mayor, and City Manager shared updates, announcements, and items for future consideration.

🔒 Executive Session
Council met in executive session to discuss:
• Utility Billing matters
