Freeport Trailer

Freeport Trailer OUR HISTORY
The Freeport Trailer was originally established, in 2002, by a group of passionate individuals and catholic charities.

The Freeport Trailer is a registered 501(c)3 providing those living in poverty with attaining basic human needs, tools for self empowerment and a giant helping of dignity and friendship! It was opened as a hiring site that would provide a safer place for day laborers to connect with contractors, instead of congregating at Home Depot. Eventually, the trailer closed in May of 2009. Liz O'Shaughnessy

founded the nonprofit organization, CoLoKi Inc.in order to reopen the trailer. By February of 2010, the trailer was renovated and successfully re-opened. The organization is funded by non-governmental grants from foundations and individual donations. It had originated as a hiring site for the community's day laborers but has grown to be much more. We now provide a hot meal every morning so that our area's low-wage workers, and those hoping to obtain work, are able to start their day with nutritious food. We have also developed many other programs that help to improve their lives.

Many, many thanks to Island Harvest for their donation of turkeys to the trailer!! The gentleman in neon green pictured below is Bob Rooks. An angel, who not only labors for Island Harvest as a volunteer but has taken us under his wings making sure we get what we need and sparing us a weekly trip to the warehouse! He is simply the best and we are so very grateful for him.
Rather than distributing the turkeys, they will be cooked at the trailer and incorporated into our food program for the benefit of all the workers who come to the trailer.
