Well #12 is coming along nicely! Crews are still hard at work at the South entrance of Krape Park on Forest Road.

The City of Freeport was awarded $31 Million through the Illinois EPA’s Emerging Contaminants grant and forgivable loans to build out Well #12 and continue to improve water quality in Freeport. Portions of this funding were awarded to the City through the work of members of Fehr Graham in early 2025, with the remaining $14 Million being awarded in December 2025. The Well will continue to improve water quality and increase water capacity as it serves the low zone of the City.

It's not as simple as laying new pavement down. Did you know that the City works with contractors to make sure each street that gets a new layer of asphalt first gets updated infrastructure that you can't even see? Improving water infrastructure is one of the main priorities of our crews before any asphalt is even brought to the area. Once everything below the ground is improved, crews move to curb placement, shaping, flattening the surface, or any other key factors in ensuring the street will keep its flawless shape for years to come. Some projects require more work than others, but we are all in this together as we work to improve Freeport one street at a time.
