πŸ’™ AFSP Greater Central New York – Healing Conversations πŸ’™

Healing Conversations offers a safe space for su***de loss survivors to speak openly and share their story with someone who understands firsthand the pain and complexity of su***de loss.

Through a one-time phone, virtual, or in-person visit, survivors are connected with trained AFSP volunteers who are also survivors. Our volunteers listen without judgment, share from personal experience, and help individuals feel less alone. Everyone grieves differentlyβ€”whether your loss was recent or many years ago, you don’t have to navigate this journey by yourself.

πŸ”¬πŸ’™ Science Sunday: Research Spotlight πŸ’™πŸ”¬

This week, we're featuring Christine Cha, PhD, in a brief but powerful video, "One Step at a Time."

When struggling with mental health, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the idea of making big changes or solving everything at once. Dr. Cha encourages young people to think about healing and seeking support as a series of small, manageable steps rather than one large task.

Whether it's reaching out to a trusted friend, scheduling an appointment, or simply getting through the day, every step forward matters. Progress doesn't have to be perfect to be meaningful.

Research continues to remind us that recovery and support often begin with small actions that build over time. Wherever you are on your mental health journey, remember: it's okay to take it one step at a time.

πŸ”¬πŸ’™ Science Sunday: Research Spotlight πŸ’™πŸ”¬

Have you ever worried about a friend and wondered what to say or how to help?

This week's Science Sunday features Christine Cha, PhD, who shares practical guidance in "What I Would Say to Someone Who Is Worried About Their Friend."

Dr. Cha encourages friends and loved ones to create a safe, non-judgmental space for open conversation and to help connect the person to trusted supports when they are comfortable doing so. Sometimes simply reaching out, listening, and letting someone know they are not alone can make a meaningful difference.

Research continues to show the important role that connection and support play in su***de prevention. We invite you to learn from Dr. Cha's insights and consider how you can support someone who may be struggling.
