This evening, divers participated in a training exercise at Clear Lake, collaborating with counterparts from the Indiana Search and Response Team, including four-legged assets.
The training included shore operations, trail support, and ground searches in conjunction with K9 units. Experiencing divers engaged in an underwater exercise with K9 units in boats while new divers continued their open-water certification.
The objective of this training is to acclimate the dogs to marine environments and interaction with divers, as well as to teach them how to interact with divers as they surface from below the water's surface. The K9 units play a crucial role in maintaining safety across the 101 lakes within our county.
It's noteworthy that the K9 handlers personally fund their dogs' certifications, demonstrating their dedication. We express our gratitude to those who consistently support and educate our team every chance they get.
