CityServe's Compassion Network

CityServe's Compassion Network Linking willing volunteers with people in need Our desire is to inspire volunteers toward a lifestyle of compassion. All of our services are free.

Compassion Network links willing volunteers to the needs of individuals and families in Fremont, Union City and Newark. We believe every individual has a skill or ability that they can offer to help someone in need. We have an office open to the public M-F and have volunteers serving others 7 days a week. 90% of the people we serve are from different faiths, ethnic groups and are low income. We se

rve everyone whether those in need are children or in their later years. Also, we have a bilingual staff and hope to serve our diverse community in the best way possible.

Recently, a volunteer from Grace Church was able to meet with our client, Alice, to meet her needs.

Here is what Anthony, our Liaison to Grace Church, had to say:
We just wanted to give you an update. We were able to fulfill the need of Alice. We were able to pray for her and invite her and her grandbabies to church. She has been to Grace church before .

These kind of reports are common at Compassion Network. Everyday, we have volunteers making connections with families and individuals to meet their physical and spiritual needs.

High School Students Helping Homeless Women

Some students from Mission San Jose High School wanted to do a community project to benefit unsheltered women. They came across the Fremont newsletter featuring Compassion Network's work with the homeless and they thought it aligned perfectly with their vision.

The students made hygiene packs and then distributed them at one of our weekly lunches for the unsheltered community.

This year's Joyful Bounty were highly successful!

All told, we served 274 families representing 1,237 people, and gave out 325 bags with gift cards.

Above all, the families had the opportunity to meet with caring volunteers, share their stories, ask for prayer....PRICELESS!

We love our new lobby! One thing that is missing is people from our churches to chat with and pray with our families that are waiting for appointments or who walk in to our office. If you are a prayer warrior who would love the opportunity to do just that, let us know.

Last week, 65+ church and para-church leaders met at Fremont Community Church to meet with old friends, greet new friends, share a meal and to hear from a panel of East Indian pastors about ways the "city church" can minister effectively to the Indian Hindu population here in the Tri-Cities.

There was also a time of intensive prayer for those present who had needs and for the Indian community at large,

The next Church Leaders Lunch will be on Wednesday, August 19.
