Spectrum 1 News Article from yesterdays visit to Sandusky County by the Bay to Brooklyn Ride

A group of cyclists are riding through Ohio this week as part of the “Bay to Brooklyn” initiative in honor of the 343 New York City Firefighters who died in the line of duty on 9/11.

Sandusky County Commissioners had the absolute pleasure and privilege to be in Gibsonburg at The 9/11 Public Safety Service Memorial this morning to greet riders who came through Sandusky County with the Bay to Brooklyn Ride and present them with a Proclamation commending their efforts.
The Bay to Brooklyn Ride is a Memorial Bicycle Ride From the San Francisco Bay Area to Brooklyn Honoring the 343 Firefighters Who Died on 9/11 and our Military Heroes. The large majority of riders are active duty or retired Public Safety Service Personnel.
It was an absolute pleasure to visit with all of them and we wish them safe travels as they make their way to New York City and the 9/11 Memorial there in advance of September 11th.

Spearheaded by Sandusky County Government, "Entry Fee" is a new and unwrapped toy or non perishable food items and personal hygiene products. All items collected during the event will be spread out amongst the many amazing Sandusky County organizations working to help the community during the holidays.

On Thursday, August 27th, Commissioners joined Mircea Handru, Board Members from the North Central Behavioral Health Board and staff members from TASC for the opening and ribbon cutting of the Nexus Center on S. Front Street in Fremont. The Nexus Center will house TASC and the new facility allows them to better serve the community.
