Invitation from U.S. Senator Jim Banks...

Senator Banks will be hosting a Service Academy Day on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Indiana War Memorial in Indianapolis.

This is a great opportunity for students interested in attending one of the five U.S. Service Academies after high school to learn more about the academies and ask questions. While this event is geared toward current high school students, it is open to students of all ages and their parents. Doors open at 11:00 am, and the briefing will start at Noon.

The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at:

Indianapolis, Indiana 46204

Representatives from the U.S. Service Academies and Senator Banks’ staff will be available to discuss the application and nomination process.

The 50th annual Music Americana takes place in Angola, Indiana at Trine University's T. Furth Center of Performing Arts. Kicking off the Independence Day festivities, this beloved community tradition celebrates local talent and honors veterans, culminating in a grand finale sing-along.
All are welcome to this free event coordinated by the 101 Lakes Kiwanis and sponsored by Trine University, Angola Parks Department and the Steuben County Tourism Bureau.

I would like to thank the Steuben County State Convention Delegates who were elected by their fellow constituents, paid their fees on time (all but 1) and understood the responsibilities associated with receiving their fellow citizens support (there were 22 candidates for 12 positions). I also would like to thank the IN GOP for notifying me that all but 1 delegate paid and gave me the opportunity to secure our 12 delegates before the deadline. One last thought, if I was a delegate and missed a deadline, I would be angry, frustrated and quite frankly embarrassed with myself- that I let down my fellow citizens that entrusted me with their vote.

Steuben GOP Breakfasts and lunches will be reconvening in September!! The September Breakfast will be held on September 12th (That is the second Saturday due to the Labor Day Weekend)

In the meantime, Join in the fun for the Summer Parades. Angola and Hamilton will both have 4th of July parades.

United State Senator Todd Young was the keynote speaker for the 2026 Lincoln Day Dinner held at the Steuben County Event Center on May 29th. Approximately 135 guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Sutton's Catering. The evening started with the presentation of colors by the Steuben County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard, Secretary of State Diego Morales led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a prayer by State Senator Sue Glick and a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem by Lily Miklaszewics. Chairman Rick Michael was the Master of Ceremonies and Vice Chair Molly Weber recognized special guests, former party chairs and county elected officials. Retiring Vice Chair Karen Shelton was recognized for her 20 years of service to the Central Committee. The evening was topped off by the Republican Women's Dessert Auction and door prizes selected by Treasurer Ryan Herbert. It was a great evening celebrating the 250th birthday of our great country and a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday America" was sung by attendees.
