We would like to remind residents that ALL fireworks are banned in the City of Fremont. Fremontā€™s public safety departments would like to remind Fremont residents, businesses, and visitors that the sale, possession, and use of all fireworks are banned within the city of Fremont. This ban includes the ā€œsafe and saneā€ variety of fireworks that are legal in some other cities. The ban, in effect since December 1986, has helped reduce the number of injuries, wildland fires, and structure fires caused by fireworks in the City of Fremont.

Fire and Police resources will be on patrol in Fremont during the peak times of concern to maintain an active vigilance against wildland fires along our hillside and fireworks use. In California, possession of illegal fireworks is considered a misdemeanor, which is punishable by a fine, or by imprisonment in a county jail for up to one year. If you are found to be in possession of a sufficient amount of illegal fireworks, you may be guilty of a felony and punished by a fine and/or imprisonment in a state prison or county jail. Penalties for the possession and/or use of illegal fireworks range from $1,000 to $50,000. Parents may be held liable for any damages or injuries caused by their childrenā€™s use of illegal fireworks.

Fremont Police and Fire are anticipating a high call volume during the Fourth of July holiday season. We ask that community members help do their part to keep our city safe and only dial 9-1-1 during a true or potential emergency. To report non-emergency illegal firework use, call the Fremont Police Department Dispatch Center at 510-790-6800 x3. Please be prepared to provide dispatchers with details, such as the specific location, description of involved persons, and any immediate danger to areas with dry brush and vegetation susceptible to fire. All firework calls will be prioritized with other pending calls for service.

From 4:00 p.m. on July 4 to 2:00 a.m. on July 5, community members are encouraged to report illegal firework activities via the Fremont App. Additional police resources will be monitoring and relaying information to field personnel. Complaints with specific details such as an address, and description of those involved will receive higher priority. For details on how to download the app, please visit: fremontpolice.gov/fireworks

Please be very alert during the Fourth of July holiday season and throughout the summer months with all outdoor activities, and when in or around dry vegetation. The combination of dry grass, low relative humidity, warm temperatures, and strong winds can quickly contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Road Closure Planned for 4th of July Parade on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

The Fremont 4th of July Parade will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Downtown Fremont.

Fremont Police Department asks attendees to please refrain from bringing backpacks and large bags into the parade area. All bags are subject to search. In addition, UAVs (drones) will not be permitted to fly over the parade route or within the event venue. Only official parade participants with credentials will be allowed to enter the staging area and parade route.

Please plan aheadā€”several major roadways will be closed during the parade. All road closures will begin on July 4 from approximately 6:00 a.m. and roads are expected to reopen by 2:00 p.m. Please expect heavy traffic and delays in the area for the duration of the event.

Road closures are as follows:
ā€¢ Paseo Padre Parkway (both directions full closure between Mowry Avenue and Stevenson Boulevard)
ā€¢ Capitol Avenue (between State Street and Paseo Padre Parkway)
ā€¢ Hastings Street (between Capitol Avenue and Mowry Avenue)
ā€¢ Walnut Avenue (between Liberty Street and Civic Center Drive)
ā€¢ Liberty Street (between Beacon Avenue and Capitol Avenue)
ā€¢ Stevenson Blvd. (between Civic Center Drive and Paseo Padre Pkwy.)
Please note there is no public parking at the Fremont Main Library parking lot. The location will be used as a staging area for parade floats.

REMINDER: Criminal Trespassing in the Alameda Creek Area: Subject to Citation and Arrest!

If your plans include a day at Alameda Creek in the Niles Canyon, think again! Swimming or gathering in the Alameda Creek area is both illegal and unsafe, and officers will be on patrol in the area this weekend, keeping an eye out for trespassers.

The Alameda Creek and surrounding lands are off limits and trespassing into the creek area can be punishable by arrest per California Penal Code 602(O)(1). The Fremont Police Department is working in conjunction with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, Alameda County, and Cal-Trans, to enforce trespassing laws in the Alameda Creek and surrounding lands. Violators will be cited and/or arrested. Additionally, vehicles found to be illegally parked will be cited and/or towed.

We understand the desire to cool off during hot weather, but the Alameda has many hidden dangers, and people have lost their lives while swimming in this area. Please use an alternate location to have your outdoor gatherings or to cool off in the water. Public options are listed below:

FIFA World Cup 2026ā„¢ is a No Drone Zone

As the FIFA World Cup comes to the Bay Area this June and July, be aware that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is issuing Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) that will be in effect around stadiums and event areas during matches and related activities.

These restrictions prohibit drone operations within the designated areas, including recreational drone flights. Flying drones near stadiums is illegal and dangerous, as unauthorized drone activity may interfere with law enforcement, security, and emergency response operations.

A massive, multi-layered security plan that includes advanced anti-drone technology is in place to protect fans. Violations will result in FAA enforcement action, including civil penalties and possible certificate suspension or revocation. There will be severe consequences for reckless, careless, or criminal drone use, including fines upwards of $100,000, criminal charges, incarceration, and the confiscation of your drone.

The FAA will issue Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) for each match, creating No Drone Zones around match venues and fan festivals. Leviā€™s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA will have matches on June 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, and July 1, 2026. Dates and times may change, so please check the FAAā€™s websites for updates.

During those matches, Leviā€™s Stadium will have a Temporary Flight Restriction that measures 3 Nautical Mile radius and 3,000ft Above Ground Level from Leviā€™s Stadium. Check the FAAā€™s website for specific times.
