Howard Elementary School Welcome to Howard Elementary School! Howard Elementary is located in the southeast section of Fremont, Nebraska.

We serve approximately 275-300 students in Kindergarten through Fourth Grade. The majority of Howard Students come from the surrounding neighborhood. Howard Elementary offers district Reading Recovery and all Special Education programs including Resource Services, Speech and Basic Skills Program. In addition to classroom instruction, specialists provide students’ education in the content areas of

Art, Media, Music and Physical Education. We are a certified Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school and support proactive strategies for teaching appropriate student behaviors to create a positive school environment.

They are looking at I spy books, listening to MeReaders or working on letter activities for a few minutes at a time.

Being able to work independently helps the teacher be able to work with small groups!

In 1st Grade Social Studies, students are learning all about our community! They’ve been exploring what it means to be a good citizen, learning about our leaders, and discovering the difference between rules and laws.

Today, they had a special guest join them to share more about our community and what it means to be a good citizen!

1st grade has been learning about the rights and responsibilities of citizens during Social Studies in first grade.

Today’s lesson discussed the difference between laws and rules and why it’s important to follow them. We had a lawyer (Chief Deputy County Attorney) visit the classroom to share information with the students!

In science in Miss Stowe’s class they had a paper tower challenge.

Working on criteria (tallest tower possible, able to hold up a book) and constraints (limited to only 7 sheets of paper and some tape).

They really had to work on our creativity, collaboration, and perseverance skills!!
