⛽️Feel Good Friday⛽️

While out in the field, Probation Officers Duran and Gill came across a stopped vehicle in the roadway with its hazard lights on. They checked on the driver and determined she had run out of gas. Officer Gill walked to a nearby gas station, purchased a gas can, and filled it with gasoline while Officer Duran stayed with the woman and her vehicle. Once they were able to get the vehicle started, they followed her to the gas station to ensure she arrived safely and was able to fuel up.

The woman later contacted our department to thank the officers for their kindness and assistance. She shared that they went above and beyond to help her, adding that “you don’t see much of that nowadays,” and described both officers as caring and compassionate throughout the interaction.

We’re proud to recognize Officers Duran and Gill for their professionalism, compassion, and commitment to serving our community in every aspect of the job.

🔥 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run 🔥

This morning, members of our department participated in the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Northern California hosted by the Stockton Police Department.

It was a beautiful morning to run alongside some incredible athletes and help carry the Flame of Hope through our community.

Thank you to all of the agencies, athletes, and supporters who came together for such a meaningful event.

During National Law Enforcement Appreciation Week, we reflect on the Peace Officer Memorial hosted earlier this month by the Stockton Police Department. It was a time to honor the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice serving San Joaquin County while surrounded by the men and women who continue to show up each day in service to our communities.

We are grateful for the partnerships we share with all of the law enforcement agencies throughout San Joaquin County and appreciate their continued dedication, commitment, and sacrifice.

Thank you for your service. 💙

Operation: Spring Heat

Over the weekend, we partnered with the California Department of Justice (DOJ) to conduct Operation Spring Heat, an operation focused on enforcing California gun laws and ensuring compliance with Proposition 63.

During the operation, officers contacted probationers who are prohibited from possessing fi****ms due to felony or violent misdemeanor convictions. The goal was to reduce potential violence before it happens and strengthen accountability within our community.

Operation Results:
• 7 field contacts
• 10 searches conducted
• 7 attempted visits
• 1 arrest/warrant arrest
• 1 K9 search
• 14 fi****ms seized
• 1 replica firearm recovered
Additional contraband seized included over 3,000 rounds of ammunition, knives, and drug paraphernalia.

Operations like this are designed to intervene early, reduce recidivism, and keep prohibited fi****ms out of the hands of individuals legally barred from possessing them.

We appreciate our partnership with the California Department of Justice and remain committed to enhancing public safety throughout San Joaquin County.

Earlier this week, members of our Recognition Committee stopped by the Sheriff’s Office to drop off some treats and to thank their dispatchers for the critical role they play in supporting our officers in the field.

Through our partnership with the ’s office, our officers log their activity and locations, and their dispatchers check in to ensure their safety in the field.

We appreciate our dispatchers every day, but during Telecommunicators Week, we wanted to take a moment to recognize and thank them for the support they provide to us. So, thank you, not just today, but each and every day! 💛

SHINE (Supporting Homeless to Interact, Navigate and Engage) provides SJ CARES officers and outreach staff with real-time visibility into outreach history, service referrals, behavioral health connections, shelter bed availability, and prior placements to better coordinate care in the field.

Since launching in July 2024, SJ CARES has partnered with law enforcement across San Joaquin County to deliver coordinated, compassionate outreach, reaching 6,862 total contacts, engaging 822 unique individuals, actively supporting 261 clients, connecting 722 individuals to services, placing 123 individuals in temporary housing, and permanently housing 34 individuals (28% of those housed).

Thank you to our law enforcement partners for their collaboration and commitment to this work: Tracy Police Department (), Stockton Police Department (), Lodi Police Department (), Manteca Police Department (), and Lathrop Police Department ().

Our SJ CARES team responded to a community referral at the Oro Street Bridge and Mormon Slough following reports of encampments along the canal. Residents shared concerns about increased foot traffic through the neighborhood and occasional attempts to access properties. Additional concerns included noise, smoke and odors from burning materials, and overall quality-of-life impacts.

While multiple tents and underground encampments were present, only one individual was on site at the time outreach was conducted. That individual agreed to accept services and is scheduled to be transported to a local shelter.

Nearby residents stopped to thank our team for responding, and a cleanup has been coordinated with our local law enforcement partners in the coming weeks.

If you have concerns or would like to request outreach, we encourage community members to contact [email protected] or visit sjcprobation.org/sjcares.
