🇺🇸 Memorial Day 2026 🇺🇸

Today, the Springs Valley Fire Department pauses to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.

Since our country’s founding in 1776, over 1.2 million American service members have given their lives so that we may live in freedom. From the battlefields of the Revolutionary War to the conflicts of today, their courage and selflessness built the foundation of the liberty we cherish.

We remember not only those who served in uniform, but all who answered the call to protect and defend. As firefighters, we understand the weight of service and the willingness to run toward danger when others run away. We stand in solemn gratitude for every fallen hero.

To their families, friends, and communities: your loved ones will never be forgotten. Their legacy lives on in the freedom we enjoy and the communities we serve.

May we never forget. May we always honor.

Early Morning Structure Fire

French Lick, IN – On April 14, 2026, at 03:54am, the Springs Valley Fire Department and Orange County Rural District 1 Fire was dispatched to the area of West Maryland Street for a report of an abandoned mobile home fire. Both departments arrived on scene to find a mobile home with flames coming through the roof on the north end of the structure. Two handlines and a deck gun was deployed to get a quick and heavy knock down of the fire.

Crews transitioned from an exterior to interior attack and interior crew made entry conducting suppression as they made their way to the seat of the fire. Once the fire was quickly brought under control, crews began overhaul operations looking for and extinguishing hot spots.

All units were clear of scene at 06:30am.

This incident is a prime example of how cooperative training is a benefit and must. We appreciate the willingness of OCRD 1 to coop train to ensure we all work fluidly and seamlessly together as well as their quick response with mutual aid.

Any inquiries regarding this incident should be directed to Fire Chief Aaron Kemple.
