Per Dispatch 911:

The burn ban has been lifted as of 4/20/26. We ask that if you do burn please have a water hose close by stay at least 150 ft away from the woods and structures.

Also if you are going to burn a brush pile please call us at dispatch at 606-768-9046 and let us know so we don’t send fire units to a control burn.

Menifee county is under a Full burn ban as of 4/7/26 until further notice. Please do not burn anything during this time we will advise when this ban is lifted.

The Daniel Boone National Forest plans to conduct prescribed burns on roughly 60 acres in Laurel County, today, March 21.

📍Operations are planned in the Goose 2 burn unit roughly 2 miles south of KY 192 between the end of Indian Camp Road and the northern shore of Laurel River Lake.

⚠️ Smoke may be visible along nearby roads and towns. Slow down and turn on your low beams to become more visible if you encounter smoke while driving.

Prescribed fire reduces hazardous fuels, improves forest health and supports habitat for native wildlife. Applying low-intensity fire under the right conditions also helps lower the risk of severe wildfires in the future.

An arctic cold front will bring snow showers and the possibility of an isolated snow squall tonight. The favored time window for these snow showers and any squall is between 10 PM and 4 AM, with the threat beginning first along the I-64 corridor and lingering
latest near the Kentucky-Tennessee border.

Any accumulations should be minimal, generally under one half inch, but rapidly dropping temperatures could lead to slippery travel in some areas. Visibilities could drop suddenly under any squall that materializes.

Anyone traveling tonight is advised to exercise caution and allow extra time to reach their destination.
