On behalf of the governing body, I would like to extend our sincere condolences on the passing of Frenchtown Historian Rick Epstein.

Rick was a gifted writer, journalist, historian, and local tour guide whose passion for Frenchtown brought its rich history to life. His eloquence, knowledge, and storytelling made him a trusted source for so many who wanted to better understand and appreciate our community. Many also came to know Rick through his years as a journalist with the Delaware Valley News, where his thoughtful writing and commitment to local storytelling left a lasting impact.

More importantly, Rick was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a soon-to-be grandfather. While our community has lost a true treasure, his greatest legacy lives on through the love of his family and the countless lives he touched.

We have lost a remarkable member of our community, but his memory, his stories, and his passion for preserving Frenchtown's history will continue to inspire generations to come.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Rick's family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.

Tonight’s Fireworks Cancelled

Due to the threat of severe thunderstorms expected this evening, the fireworks display scheduled for tonight on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River across from Frenchtown Borough, NJ has been cancelled.

In addition, last night's storms caused significant damage throughout the area, and thousands of residents are still without power. The safety of our community, visitors, and volunteers assisting with the fireworks show remains the top priority.

Thank you for your understanding, and please stay weather-aware and safe this evening.

I am pleased to announce that Congressman Tom Kean Jr. has selected the renovation of the Frenchtown Borough Police Department as one of 20 district-wide Community Project Funding submissions for FY2027.

This marks an important first step in the federal appropriations process, and additional congressional action will be required before funding is finalized. We are grateful for Congressman Kean’s support of this worthy project, which will enhance facilities for our local law enforcement officers and strengthen public safety in our community.

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, Raritan Headwaters Association (RHA) will be hosting its 36th Annual Stream Cleanup. Thousands of volunteers come together to clean up our rivers and streams, working to protect essential water supplies across Hunterdon, Morris, and Somerset counties.

It only takes three hours to make a big impact on clean water!

Volunteers for this site will use the park lot at Frenchtown Park. See below for more detail.

Frenchtown Infrastructure Work Update

Dear Resident,

I am pleased to share that work on the South Washington Street Improvement Project is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 16.
Revival Contracting Corp. will be the contractor completing the project, which includes the reconstruction of South Washington Street, paving of a portion of River Road, and the resurfacing of Hawk Street.

A FY24 New Jersey Department of Transportation grant in the amount of $263,211 will be used to offset the total project costs.
While there may be some temporary disruption associated with the work, the project will result in improved stormwater drainage, smoother streets, and enhanced pedestrian safety markings on South Washington Street. These markings will help alert motorists to the D&R Canal Path crossing located on South Washington Street.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we complete these important infrastructure improvements.
