When Boston floated a "Straight Pride Parade," Chris Evans replied with one line that buried the whole idea, suggesting they rename it the "desperately trying to bury our own gay thoughts by being homophobic" parade.

That's the thing about Captain America turning 45 today. The jaw and the arms get the headlines, but it's the way he uses his platform that keeps gay men firmly in his corner.

When critics came for the same-sex kiss in Lightyear, Evans didn't soften it. "The real truth is those people are idiots," he told Reuters, adding that the ones clinging to the past "die off like dinosaurs."

Boston-born, gym-built, and never once shy about telling homophobes exactly where to go. Forty-five looks very good on him.

Before anyone else had the guts to say it on national TV, Joe Biden went on Meet the Press in 2012 and declared he was "absolutely comfortable" with same-sex marriage.

His words - "Who do you love?" - pushed President Obama to finally announce his support just days later. It was a turning point for marriage equality in America.

Ten years later, Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law, codifying federal protections for same-sex and in*******al couples. At the signing ceremony, they played audio from that 2012 interview - a full-circle moment.

And just days into his presidency, he reversed Trump's ban on transgender troops serving openly in the military. His response to critics? Transgender service members "can shoot as straight as anybody else can shoot."

Say what you want about his politics, but Biden's LGBTQ legacy is cemented in history.
