The Fresno State CM Commercial Building Team has travelled to Sparks, Nevada, to compete at the Associated Schools of Construction, Far West Region 7 Competition. We will attend again this year with our eye again on the 1st Place Win! In previous years, the team has taken the βopus magnumβ 1st place trophy in the Commercial Team Category, solidifying their history in the competition. In addition, the Commercial Team has traveled to Las Vegas, NV, and Kissimmee, Florida, to compete and attend the National Associated Builders and Contractors Construction Management Competition. We have gained skills in preparing an initial Request for Proposal (RFP), solving addenda problems, and presenting the problems with historical wins of 2nd in Project Management two years in a row, 3rd in the Estimating Category, 3rd in the Safety Category, and 2nd in the Overall Competition two years in a row. This has been an incredible feat for this awesome team!!
The Fresno State Bluebeam User Group (BUG), was honored in 2024 to be invited to create a Bluebeam Case Study for being the #1 Student BUG in the United States, as well as the 2023 Standout Professional BUG of the Year by Bluebeam at the Bluebeam XCON Conference in San Diego, California. For the past 6 years, the group has held a regular speaker series each semester and focuses on the technical development of our undergraduate and graduate students by bringing back experiences from conferences and workshops like these. Being invited by Bluebeam, as the #1 Student BUG in the United States to do a comprehensive Case Study, as well as being awarded the 2023 Bluebeam Standout BUG of the Year has been an incredible acknowledgment of these students' extraordinary effort to advance learning within Fresno State's Construction Management program and the construction industry.
The Fresno State BUG has expanded to be the Technology HUB for the Construction Management Department and offers Bluebeam Essentials Training to the Lyles College of Engineering in the Spring and Fall Semesters, with students be given the opportunity to become a Bluebeam Certified Professional by passing Bluebeamβs tough professional exam. The 2025 Fresno State Bluebeam User Group traveled to Bluebeam Unbound Conference in Washington, D.C. this Fall, and plans to attend Bluebeam Unbound 2026!!! π€©
