For May’s Biography/Autobiography genre challenge, Librarian Mark read “Straight Edge: A clear- Headed Hardcore Punk History” by Tony Rettman. Here’s his review:

“Filled with interviews and pictures, this book is a definitive exploration of the anti-drug and anti-alcohol hardcore punk music scenes. It features influential bands and individuals who chose sober living, strong community, and positive messages over the standard behavior of their peers -- all while playing aggressive, exciting shows. Detailing both the inspiring beginning and the serious problems that later arose, Rettman's work is essential for fans and those interested in music history.”
