AI can be a useful starting point for information, but when your home is at risk, it should never replace a certified housing counselor.

We recently worked with two clients who nearly lost their homes after relying on ChatGPT for housing advice.

The problem isn’t simply that AI can make mistakes. Housing situations often depend on the details: your loan documents, servicer requirements, deadlines, notices you’ve received, documents you’ve submitted, and the protections that may apply to your specific situation.

A chatbot can’t review your complete case, advocate with your mortgage servicer, or help you navigate your situation the way a certified housing counselor can.

If you’re struggling with your mortgage, behind on payments, facing foreclosure, or unsure what to do next, don’t wait.

Get guidance from a qualified housing professional before making a decision that could affect your home.

Meet Yesenia Reyes!

As CHC’s Program Manager and Housing Counselor, Yesenia Reyes has been serving clients and supporting the organization’s mission since February 19, 2009. Over the years, she has remained committed to helping individuals and families achieve their housing goals while providing guidance, encouragement, and compassionate support.

A former college soccer player, Yesenia credits the sport with teaching her the value of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance—qualities that continue to shape both her personal and professional life.

What Yesenia enjoys most about working at CHC is building meaningful relationships with clients and being part of a team that is dedicated to making a positive difference every day. Helping others and seeing clients achieve their goals is what motivates her most, and knowing she has played a role in their journey is incredibly rewarding.

Outside of work, Yesenia enjoys spending time with her husband and their four children. Between school sports, travel teams, and family activities, life keeps her busy, but she treasures every opportunity to support her children, celebrate their accomplishments, and create lasting memories together.

One thing Yesenia hopes everyone feels when they connect with CHC is that they are heard, supported, and genuinely cared for. She and the entire CHC team are committed to providing exceptional service, building trust, and ensuring that every client receives the personalized attention they deserve.

The heart of CHC is the people behind the mission, and over the coming days, we’ll be introducing the dedicated team members who help bring hope and support to our community.

First up: Sally Rector, our HUD Certified Housing Counselor.

Sally has been part of the CHC family for the past few years. Her passion for helping others is at the heart of everything she does, guiding clients with hope, direction, and practical solutions.

What Sally enjoys most about working at CHC is being able to give people hope and a plan for the future. She is motivated every day by the opportunity to help individuals and families achieve housing stability and stay in their homes.

Fun fact: Sally is a proud mom of four sons. Outside of work, she loves reading and creating handmade jewelry.
When asked what she hopes people feel when they connect with CHC, her answer is simple: Hope.

Join us in Celebrating Sally’s impact in our community. Stay tuned as we continue introducing the dedicated team members who make CHC’s mission possible.

People ask what sets CHC apart from other organizations, and one thing we kept coming back to is simple:

We answer the phone.

No endless clicking.
No getting passed around.
No trying to figure out who to talk to next.

When people reach out for help, guidance, or resources, they deserve to feel seen and actually connected to someone who can help. That’s something we don’t take lightly.

This is what makes CHC, CHC.

Stay tuned because in the next posts, we’ll introduce the people behind CHC: the team making all of this happen.

Follow along and get to know the faces behind the mission ❤️
