The Fresno State Police Department would like to recognize our newest police officer, Cipriano Pineda. Officer Pineda was recently honored at the Madera Police Department’s Awards Ceremony for his heroic efforts in the capture and arrest of a homicide suspect. Prior to joining Fresno State Police, Officer Pineda served with the Madera Police Department.

In March 2025, the City of Madera was shaken by the homicide of an employee while working at a local Walgreens. Officer Pineda was one of the responding officers who contacted and arrested the suspect.

“We are proud of Officer Pineda’s efforts in response to such a tragic incident,” said Chief of Police Anthony T. Martinez. “We are excited that he has chosen Fresno State and are proud to welcome him to our family.”

Wrap up 2025 the smart way.

New Year’s Eve is coming soon, and it’s important to stay mindful of your planned activities. Here are five simple tips we encourage our Bulldog family to follow:

1. Drive sober
Be a responsible driver. If you’re impaired, do not drive. Arrange a safe ride home with a sober friend, or a transportation service.

2. Fireworks
Follow California fireworks laws. Wet fireworks down after use. Be responsible while lighting them.

3. Stay Aware
Be alert of your surroundings. Stick with a friend. Don’t follow strangers.

4. Protect Pets
Prevent missing pets. Keep them indoors and make sure they are comfortable.

5. Call Us
Call us if you see suspicious activity or feel in danger. Dispatch is open every day, 24 hours a day. (559) 278-8400

Have fun Bulldogs and be responsible.
