🚨CHP ARRESTS ATTEMPTED MURDER SUSPECT🚨
On July 17, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Major Crimes Unit arrested an attempted murder suspect in connection with a freeway shooting that occurred on July 11 on State Route 180.
CHP detectives responded to the scene of a shooting on July 11 after gunfire struck one man traveling on State Route 180. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his right eye and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The suspect fled the scene prior to law enforcement's arrival. During the investigation, detectives discovered the victim was traveling with two additional adult male passengers when they became involved in a traffic-related altercation with the driver of a Honda Accord.
Following an extensive investigation, CHP detectives identified the man responsible for the shooting as Devin Shane Atondo, 23, of Sanger, California.
On July 17, at 12:30 p.m., Atondo was seen in the City of Sanger, driving the Honda, which CHP detectives believed was used in the shooting. A traffic enforcement stop was coordinated by CHP detectives, and Atondo was taken into custody. Atondo was booked into the Fresno County Jail on several charges, including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
