The Frewsburg Central School District Board of Education announced the appointment of Kerri Levine as the district’s next superintendent of schools during a special meeting on Wednesday, June 3.
Levine, who currently serves as Director of Pupil Personnel Services for the Avon Central School District, brings more than two decades of experience in education, including leadership roles in pupil personnel services, special education, instructional technology, curriculum, student support services, and building administration.
“I am incredibly honored and excited to join the Frewsburg Central School District as its next superintendent,” Levine said. “I want to sincerely thank the Board of Education, the hiring committee, staff, students, families, and community members for the warm welcome they have provided me. Throughout the interview process, I was deeply impressed by the pride, sense of belonging, student experiences, and strong community connections that make Frewsburg such a special place.”
Levine said her visits to the district during the process confirmed the strong sense of school pride and community support that drew her to Frewsburg.
“Students spoke passionately about the opportunities they have to participate in extracurricular activities and the supportive relationships they have with staff,” she said. “I also sensed genuine care for students from every staff member I met. The strong sense of Bear Pride and community support was evident everywhere I went, and it made me truly excited about the opportunity to become part of the Frewsburg family.”
The Board of Education conducted the search while working with Interim Superintendent Lynda Quick, Esq., who Board President Michael LeBaron said has played an important role in preparing the district for its next leader.
“The Board is most interested in getting decisions made correctly,” Lebaron said. “At times, it requires patience, but the end result is most important. Lynda Quick has done an outstanding job of preparing the district for the incoming superintendent. Her presence is exactly what the district needed.”
Lebaron said Levine’s background and leadership experience made her the right choice to help guide Frewsburg forward.
“The district is ready to move forward, and we are confident that Mrs. Levine is the right person,” he said. “The Board of Education fully recognized the importance of this search, and Mrs. Levine is the one we hoped to find.”
Levine has served as Director of Pupil Personnel Services at Avon CSD since 2021, where she has helped lead districtwide strategic planning, student support services, policy development, mental health initiatives, recruitment, and family engagement. Her prior experience includes administrative roles in the Newark Central School District and several instructional and leadership positions in the Marion Central School District.
Levine completed the University of Rochester Superintendent Development Program and holds School Building Leader and School District Leader certifications. She also holds a master’s degree in Literacy Education and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a focus in elementary and special education from Nazareth College.
Levine said each step in her career has helped prepare her for the opportunity to lead Frewsburg.
“Every role in my journey has been guided by the shared mission of Frewsburg: providing a learning environment where each student is encouraged to pursue excellence in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities, while fostering a supportive community where both staff and students feel valued,” she said. “I have been honored to work alongside strong leaders, both in the classroom and in school buildings, who have shaped who I am today. Those experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of relationships, collaboration, and creating opportunities for all students to thrive, and they have helped prepare me for the opportunity to serve the Frewsburg community as superintendent.”
As she prepares to begin her new role, Levine said her initial priority will be to listen and build relationships throughout the district and community.
“My initial focus will be on listening, learning, and building relationships across the district and community,” Levine said. “I believe strong schools are built on trust, collaboration, and shared purpose. I look forward to spending time with students, staff, families, and community members to better understand the traditions, strengths, and goals that are important to Frewsburg.”
Lebaron said rebuilding trust will be an important focus as the district enters its next chapter.
“The primary goal of the new superintendent is to build back the trust within the district,” he said. “The school and community have been through many difficult challenges this past year, and Mrs. Levine is the one to lead the way back to greatness.”
Levine and her partner, Tom, reside in Pittsford, where they have raised their five children together: Mack, Sophie, Tori, Mackenzie, and Cooper.
