Lithium-ion batteries power many devices we use everyday, but they can be dangerous if damaged or misused. Stay safe with these quick tips:

✔️Always follow the manufacturer's instructions
✔️Only use batteries and chargers that were designed to be used together
✔️Charge on flat, stable and non-flammable surfaces
✔️Stop charging once the battery is fully charged
✔️Keep batteries at room temperature
✔️Store batteries away from anything that can catch fire

⚠️Watch for warning signs: odor, discoloration, overheating, swelling, leaking or unusual noises. If safe, move the device away from flammable items and call 9‑1‑1.

⚠️Never toss loose household batteries into a bag or bucket. Tape over both ends of each battery before storing or disposing of them. Battery terminals can touch and create a short circuit, leading to heat, sparks or even a fire.

♻️Recycle responsibly: Never toss lithium-ion batteries in the trash. Find a safe recycling location at call2recycle.org. Batteries can always be recycled for free at our upcoming recycling drop-offs. Learn more at FridleyMN.gov/Recycling.

Stay powered and stay safe! 🔋✨

Last week, Fridley firefighters participated in live fire training! These types of trainings help firefighters sharpen their skills and stay prepared for real emergencies.🔥

The Fire Division holds different hands-on training exercises three times each month. These trainings give firefighters the opportunity to experience real heat, smoke conditions and fire behavior in a controlled environment. It's also an opportunity for firefighters to continue learning, building confidence and strengthening the teamwork that serves our community every day.

Everyone worked hard, supported one another and did a fantastic job during the training!🚒

Fridley Public Safety is asking for the public's help in locating multiple suspects involved in several car thefts.

On May 22 at approximately 3:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to a burglary in the 6800 block of Monroe Street NE. Upon arrival, officers located a newer model Honda Passport SUV speeding away from the area. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and followed the suspect until the suspect’s driving conduct became too dangerous. The pursuit was then discontinued to preserve the immediate safety of the public. Officers later learned the suspect was driving an unreported stolen vehicle.

Upon further investigation, officers learned three suspects were involved in numerous vehicle damage and theft incidents in the Rice Creek Terrace East, Rice Creek Terrace West and Holiday Hills neighborhoods between Rice Creek Terrace NE and Mississippi Street NE.

Fridley Public Safety is seeking assistance from community members who may have surveillance footage, video, photographs or other evidence related to this incident between 2-4 a.m. on May 22 near the area. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Fridley Public Safety at 763-572-3629 or submit an anonymous tip at FridleyMN.gov/Tip411. Reference case #26115072.

This investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.

Fridley Public Safety would like to remind community members to follow these steps to keep valuables safe and reduce the chances of your vehicle being the target of car thieves:

• Remove all valuables from your vehicle before heading to bed.
• Check to ensure your vehicle is locked
• Close your garage door
• Close and lock exterior doors and windows to your home
• Keep exterior lights on
• Always report any suspicious activity or vehicles to 9-1-1 immediately
