In the most recent resident survey, 88% of residents believed the city was headed in the right direction and 92% would recommend others live in our community.

Keeping Fridley on the right path is continuous work that requires experienced, disciplined leadership that I am looking forward to providing my neighbors and is why I am running for re-election.

Even though these results demonstrate success, the city can still do better and I am committed to listening to the needs of residents about the concerns I hear most commonly, which includes public safety, lowering traffic speeds, protecting our investment in our new parks, all while keeping taxes low.

I have been a member of the Twin Cities North chamber for years, and yesterday was able to attend the annual meeting hosted by Forgotten Star Brewing here in Fridley.

I am regularly asked about my plan for business development in our city and my answer is that it always begins with supporting the businesses we have now. Drink a beer at the brewery, go see a show at Crooners, or take the kids for a scoop of ice cream at Flamingos or Big Dipper.

The city needs to create an environment that encourages investment, including public safety, a city code that is easy to navigate, and knowledgeable staff who can assist business owners. Fridley does all these things and we are seeing new business in our city, bringing jobs and fun places to dine out!

I am grateful for City of Fridley Public Safety and their work protecting our city. Public safety is foundational to building a community where families and businesses want to live and work, and I am proud of my work ensuring that Fridley police and fire staff feel supported by council and have the tools they need so that residents feel safe living here!

My first experience serving Fridley was by volunteering on a city commission. For those of you who want to participate in local government, please consider applying for this opportunity to provide input on our growing parks system!

We have an opening on our Parks and Recreation Commission!

The Parks and Recreation Commission consists of five members who serve three-year terms. The commission was established to provide the comprehensive development of park facilities and a recreational activities program for the well-being of the residents of the City. Meetings are the first or second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Fridley Civic Campus.

Applications are due by August 31. Learn more and complete an online commission interest form at FridleyMN.gov/Commissions.
