WAYNE TWP — The Pennsylvania Game Commission voted to purchase a tract of land on Blue Mountain in Schuylkill County during a recent meeting.

Tim Haydt, director of the Bureau of Wildlife Habitat Management, confirmed the commission has an agreement of sale on a 117.8-acre tract on Kittatinny Ridge.

Retired Schuylkill County Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin, owner, said the land has been in his family since around 1950.

Spend an afternoon connecting with nature at Frog Hollow! 🍂📝✨

Their Nature Journaling Workshop is happening THIS Saturday, October 25th from 1 to 3 PM at Frog Hollow Nature Area in Friedensburg. 🌿

Led by naturalist Audrey Wells, this peaceful and creative session is open to all ages and skill levels- no artistic experience needed! 🎨✏️

Participants will explore the forest, observe the beauty of fall, and express their discoveries through journaling activities.

If it rains, the group will move to the pavilion for sketching. 🌦️

Wayne Township is seeking a new part time as needed member of our Road Crew/Maintenance Department. Responsibilities are, but not limited to; roads, equipment, buildings and parks.
Applicant should have a PA Drivers License, CDL is a plus, must be able to pass random drug and alcohol screenings, be able to work in all weather conditions, pass back ground check, and be able to operate various pieces of equipment.
Pay is subject to qualifications and experience. Applications can be printed from our website or picked up at the Wayne Township Business Office, during normal business hours.

Pennsylvania Route 895 (PA 895) is a 47.37-mile (76.23 km) state highway located in eastern Pennsylvania. The route runs generally east–west, beginning at PA 443 in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, and ending at PA 61 in West Brunswick Township. Along its course, PA 895 passes through both rural and residential areas, traveling near forests, farmland, and small communities.

The highway serves as a connector through the Blue Mountain region, crossing the Appalachian Mountains and running parallel to the Little Schuylkill River for part of its length. It passes through towns such as Auburn, Landingville, and New Ringgold, providing local access to residential neighborhoods, schools, and businesses. The route also intersects several major highways, including PA 183 in Wayne Township and PA 309 in West Penn Township, before continuing into Berks County.

PA 895 offers a scenic drive through rolling countryside and mountainous terrain, making it both a practical transportation link and a route favored for its natural views. The road supports local traffic while also acting as a secondary east–west alternative to larger highways in the region.

Wayne Township would like to thank everyone who came out for our Community Day this past Saturday. It was nice for our Township to get together on such a beautiful day. Thank you to FCCB Bank for providing the bounce house and to a few local residents who brought their tractors over to be on display. Both Friedensburg and Summit Station Fire Companies were in attendance with activities for the kids. Our Historical Society, Lions Club and Frog Hollow had great displays set up. Jeff Kramer you did a superb job organizing the day! THANK YOU!
