On Tuesday August 18th at approximately 2:08 PM, Officers of the Friendship Police Department were dispatched to County Road 20 for a report of a physical domestic in progress with weapons. As a result of this investigation Jason C. Nosbisch (25 YO) of Lancaster N.Y. was arrested and transported to the Friendship Police Department for processing. He was then transported to the Allegany County Jail for centralized arraignment. The Friendship Police Department was assisted by the Allegany County Sheriff's Office. Nosbisch’s charges are listed below.

PL 120.00 01 Assault 3rd With Intent To Cause Physical Injury (Misdemeanor)
PL 120.14 01 Menacing 2nd Weapon (Misdemeanor)

Nosbisch is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Good morning Friendship! The Friendship Police Department has moved it's RADAR board to a location requested by residents. Do you recognize this area? If you would like the RADAR board moved to a location near you, contact a Friendship PD Officer. As a public service announcement, a list of the increased fines enacted by N.Y.S . is attached to this post. Please follow the speed limit and other posted laws. It's not worth the safety risk, the fines or the hassle of getting a violation.

In an ongoing effort to keep our community and drivers safe, the Friendship Police Department will be placing our mobile RADAR trailer in multiple locations throughout our jurisdiction. A huge THANK YOU goes to the Cuba Police Department for allowing us to re purpose this equipment in Friendship. If you would like the trailer placed in your area for a while, message us or speak to one of our Officers on patrol. The suggested location should be where the trailer can safely be off road with a clear view of traffic. Be sure to include your address and the direction of travel you think should be monitored. On June 15th 2026 at approximately 9:09 PM, Officers of the Friendship Police Department responded to Crosby's on Pennsylvania Ave. for a report of an unruly customer. As Patrol arrived on scene an FPD Officer observed the reported suspect driving away and initiated a traffic stop. After a DWI investigation, it was determined that James D. Burgess (37) YO of Friendship N.Y was intoxicated. Burgess was transported to FPD for processing and his vehicle was towed from the scene. After processing he was brought to the Allegany County Jail for CAP court. Burgess is charged with the following:

VTL 1194 01B Refusal To Take Breath Test
VTL 1192 03 Driving While Intoxicated 1ST Offense

Burgess is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On June 9th, 2026 Officers of the Friendship Police Department assisted the Friendship Dog Control Officer execute a warrant issued by the Friendship Town Court, ordering the seizure of a dog. This order stems from multiple instances in the Linwood Ave. area, of the dog running loose, killing other animals, acting aggressively towards humans, not being licensed and not having its rabies vaccine. Please keep your dogs leashed or penned for their safety and the safety of the community. Dogs can be licensed at the Friendship Town Hall. See link below for further information.

In an effort to increase awareness of the 20 MILE PER HOUR SCHOOL ZONE SPEED LIMIT, two RADAR speed displays have been installed on West Main Street. These units are equipped with logging software to help us monitor traffic and speed patterns. The displays were intentionally mounted before the start of the school zone, in order to give drivers time to adjust their speed before entering the 20 Mile Per Hour School Zone. This is a multi-agency effort to increase vehicle and traffic safety for the residents of Friendship, especially our children crossing the street. The Friendship Police Department is grateful to all involved for making this a reality, but most of all, we are thankful for the support of our residents and community!

With the arrival of better weather, and with e-bikes becoming more popular, we thought now would be a good time for some e-bike facts.
Parents, please have a conversation with your children regarding the laws and rules of the road.
Riders, please follow the laws, NYS traffic laws apply to e-bike and bicyclists. Enjoy your time outside and visiting different areas in our area, but please do safe safely!

On April 21st, 2026, at approximately 2:30 PM, Officers of the Friendship Police Department arrested Anthony M. Hand (44YO) of Friendship N.Y. Hand’s arrest stems from a 911 call reporting a violation of an order of protection. Hand was processed at the Friendship Police Department and transported to the Allegany County Jail for centralized arraignment. Hand’s charges are listed below:

PL 215,50.3 CRIMINAL CONTEMPT 2ND DISOBEY COURT ORDER (A Misdemeanor)

Hand is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On April 17th, 2026 at approximately 2:00 PM, Friendship PD was dispatched to a complaint of a female undergoing a mental health crisis. Officers of the Friendship Police Department took an individual into custody under the mental hygiene law. This individual was safely transported to an area hospital to receive assistance.
