FIREPLACE SAFETY: There’s nothing like a cozy fire to warm up during the colder temperatures, but safety and maintenance are key to keeping your fireplace in top shape. Here are a few essential tips to follow before lighting that first fire of the season:

✔️ Clean your chimney – Schedule a professional chimney sweep to remove built-up soot and creosote. This prevents dangerous chimney fires! 🧹
✔️ Keep a safe zone – Always maintain a 3-foot safety perimeter around your fireplace, free of flammable objects. 🛑
✔️ Use seasoned wood – Burn only dry, seasoned wood to reduce creosote buildup and improve efficiency.
✔️ Inspect the firebox – Look for cracks or damage that could pose a risk when you’re burning logs. 🔥
✔️ Check the damper – Make sure it opens and closes properly to ensure airflow is safe and efficient.

Stay warm, stay safe! 🔥❄️

GENERATOR SAFETY: During severe weather, many of us turn to generators to stay warm and comfortable. But generator safety is crucial, particularly when it comes to avoiding carbon monoxide poisoning and fire risks. Here are some key safety tips to keep in mind:

✔️ Always use generators outdoors – Never run a generator inside your home, garage, or basement, even with the door open. Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless, making it impossible to detect without a detector. 🚫
✔️ Keep it at least 20 feet from your home and your neighbors – Position your generator far away from doors, windows, and vents to prevent CO from entering your living space. 🌬️
✔️ Install a carbon monoxide detector – Make sure you have working CO detectors in your home to alert you if carbon monoxide levels become dangerous. 🛑
✔️ Check for fuel leaks and damage – Before use, inspect your generator for any leaks, cracks, or damage that could lead to fires. 🔥
✔️ Turn off when refueling – Always turn off your generator and let it cool before refueling to prevent fires. 🚨
✔️ Store fuel safely – Store fuel in approved containers and away from living areas. Keep it away from heat or sparks. 🛢️

Safety first, so you can enjoy power without worry! Stay prepared and stay safe this winter. ❄️⚡
