The City of Frisco scores an agreement to apply for state grants supporting mixed-use improvements at Toyota Stadium.

Tonight, the Frisco City Council voted unanimously to execute a Chapter 380 Economic Development Agreement with the Hunt family, which operates Toyota Stadium. The soccer center is located north of Main Street between Dallas Parkway and Frisco Street.

Potential state grants will support a 250-room full-service hotel; a 15,000 square foot convention center; about 30,000 square feet in retail and restaurant space; and a multi-story parking garage.

“FC Dallas and the Hunt family are terrific partners,” said Mayor Mark Hill. “This is another example of a strategic partnership that sets Frisco apart from others and will continue to enhance our city for decades to come.”

Established in 2003, Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center is a public-private partnership between the City of Frisco, the Frisco Independent School District (FISD) and the Hunt family and included 17 soccer fields in addition to the stadium.

In 2024, the City of Frisco – along with its Economic Development and Community Development Corporations – extended the lease with FC Dallas through 2057 and agreed to fund mixed-use stadium improvements.

Under the Chapter 380 agreement, the City of Frisco will pass through 50% of hotel occupancy taxes (HOT) collected -- capped at $5 million -- for ten years. The City of Frisco will also waive half of construction development fees for stadium improvements. The Toyota Stadium mixed-use project is expected to increase tourism. More specifically, the additional parking garage is expected to benefit nearby businesses in the Rail District.

Under this agreement, the Hunt family is responsible for consulting and legal costs associated with state grant applications and administration. The City of Frisco will work with Hunt Sports Development to pursue state grant incentives.

Big things are happening in Frisco!

A new 11 million-square-foot office district is in the works at the Fields development, bringing the potential for major corporate relocations and thousands of new jobs.

With new homes, entertainment, and community amenities already taking shape, this project is set to change the future of our region.

Fehmi Karahan and KDC plan to build 11 million square feet of office space at the Fields development in Frisco. It would be one of the largest office hubs in the region.

FRISCO’S FIRST TRADER JOE’S JUST CLEARED A MAJOR HURDLE

After more than two years of planning and revisions, Frisco City Council unanimously approved the development that will bring the city its first Trader Joe’s.

🛒 Frisco’s first Trader Joe’s
🏡 158-unit community for active, independent older adults
📍 Main Street + Majestic Gardens Drive
🏗️ 9.4-acre mixed-use development
🤝 Trader Joe’s + senior living must be built in the same phase
⏳ No construction or opening date announced yet

The approval moves the long-awaited grocery store closer to reality, but Frisco shoppers will still have to wait for a construction timeline and opening date.
