***THIS POST IS OUTDATED*** 11am 6/6/2026: What a beautiful sound of rain and light thunder that several of us are hearing this morning. This rain is basically rotating through the combined Panhandles around a low pressure system located across the southeast Texas Panhandle. Much of this rain is light to moderate but there are some embedded thunderstorms and heavier bands. These thunderstorms may produce instantaneous rainfall rates of 2-4 inches per hour and bring efficient rainfall quickly. These thunderstorms and rates won't last long but where they occur, they will result in quick ponding to some flooding on area roadways. This rain will continue to affect the region through the afternoon. As locations begin to heat up more, some more robust thunderstorms may occur this afternoon and we will be watching for those. In the meantime, enjoy the rainfall that many of us have been wishing for for months!

***THIS POST IS OUTDATED*** 8:20 AM: Light to moderate rain showers are ongoing across the eastern and southern Texas Panhandle. No thunderstorms are currently being observed, but they will be possible later today.

**Post is no longer valid**

June 5 @ 6:55 PM - Slow moving showers and thunderstorms continue to slowly move northwest/north early this evening. The main hazard with any storms will be heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding, however, strong wind gusts and hail up to quarters cannot be ruled out. If there are any flooded roadways out there, especially across the southeast including Collingsworth county, do not attempt to drive through the flood waters!
